NYA's ST150 **Stanced, Cleaned & Photoed 14/10/12**

I've had it two years now Stu, so the warranty is up. I don't think Ford will really give a toss, they were reluctant to give me the part number earlier as I wasn't buying from them. I know they'll be funny and tbh I'd lose my rag and end up going off the deep end with someone.

How old is the car?
It doesn't matter who you bought it from or where from?
If it's a known manufacturers defect, there must be some sort of warranty goodwill available, regardless.

(FYI, if you don't already know, Goodwill is where they will stump up towards the costs.)

Indeed.

At least you've lived the Ford nightmare.

Repair and sell.

Dott's Ford advice - never gets boring. Or true.

Nearly a year in mine now and around 12k miles and not a single problem. Yet. It'll come though - it's an old car.

Terrible these Fords. Definitely not just the case that cars go wrong from time to time. It's only Fords that do while Hondas never ever have an issue. That's why I bought one.

Bad luck Darren. Don't let it taint your experience completely - cars are cars. Occasionally they fvck you over.

If you do chose to change though - as said, clearly DC5 time. My itch for one is still there massively. I'd get one if Dott didn't have one.

If you get one, I don't want another.

I only bought one cause Dotty has had 3

Darren, would you consider a FN2? Prices have come down massively over the past 12 months or so

Cheers G, I know what you mean, there's always a Lemon out there, you can just never tell ;)

Ed, TBH, I've never been the biggest fan. I like Johns (loxy) as he's done a lot of cool things to it. At the moment I'm weighing up my choices. I have two options really, trade for a DC5 and take on more finance, or fix and sell to clear my finance and get something just to run around in for a while, probably an EK or EG Civic.

Don't know tbh Stu, I really don't. Would have to get a finance figure and go from there. I do think a DC5 is what I'm going to end up with, so I'm thinking I may as well just bite the bullet and go for one now.

Little update on the gearbox issues. I was going to go with a second hand box and just get them swapped, but the Father In Law has been speaking to a local specialist. Apparently they have dealt with a few boxes like this one, and they have agreed the maximum I will pay for a full rebuild with 12 month warranty will be £595 incl. vat. Add this to our friend who will do the strip and swap for £360 incl. vat and it comes to under a grand. This is only £50 extra to what I was going to pay for a replacement box that wouldn't have any guarantee on it as it was from a scrap yard. So I think this will be the way to go, the box company will pick up and deliver my box for free, to and from the local garage, they also guarantee a maximum turnaround time of 3 days. They did say if it is the issue they think it is, the cost could come down to around £300 for the rebuild. It seems 5th basically slips off the gear shaft due to the rings that hold it on failing, as it is right at the front of the box, it is easiest to get to, so takes less time to sort. So fingers crossed it will get sorted for under £1000. I have just sold a load of work shares to cover the cost, and the leftover from the sale will go towards a deposit on the next car. I'm already scanning Torque GT's pages for DC5's and have spotted quite a nice example that fits the bill and fits the price range well. So hopefully, sometime towards the end of January I'll be in a VTec again:)

Expensive repair, but as long as it has warranty and you are happy with it then go for it mate.

Can't wait to see the "VTEC" next year! :)

Cheers lads. Jack not too sure tbh. Looking at their stock they've only four DC5's on the site at the moment and they are on the lot.

I will be very jealous of you once you've got a DC5 Darren!

Will you mod it or will it stay stock?
