Type R Owners INSURANCE scheme with CHRIS KNOTT :: 0800 917 2274

They're happy to insure me at 29 :p

But considering your attitude I don't blame them for not wanting to insure you.

Just phoned them for a quote and they cannot include Jayne because she's 29. I can add her to the policy on her birthday though.

Just waiting for a ringback because the underwriter is taking their time.

edit:
Can't match Bell's price. Ho-hum the search continues.

Well atleast I can still phone next time round :D was getting rather concerned with people saying over 30 but atleast that's not true to someone who meets the criteria stated by tim

Afraid it is the case regardless of if you fit the criteria stated. I only have cosmetic mods and an exhaust at the moment, have 10 years no claims bonus, and a clean licence but still got the "you must be 30 or over answer".

Thanks Tim for clarifying the situation and i fully understand it is not you and your collegues that are at fault but your underwritters. It's just a shame that they wont look at it on a person by person basis rather than a lump them all in together outlook. I mean i have 10 years driving experience, all in performance cars of some sort or anotherand have never had a fault accident unyet because i am under 30 (by all of 6 months) and choose not to drive some boring eurobox they wouldn't touch me.

It’s fair to say premiums are increasing this year due to the increased cost of claims rather than the increased number of claims and these premium increases are imposed on us by the insurers.

Even though there is obviously negative reaction to this, our renewal retention rate has only dropped by 5% from 81% to 76% so it seems that approximately 3 out of every 4 people still renew with us.

I’m also hoping that after a period of time (such as 12 months or so), the criteria will be relaxed somewhat but we will see.

I understand that you dont insure Manchester postcodes such as 'M' etc, but just wondering do you insure 'SK' postcodes?

I'm hoping its changed by April 2011 as thats when my renewals due, can i assume you'll post as soon as the restrictions change?

Hi

Again we see the media talking about the premium increases which seem to be affecting nearly everyone.
Here is the latest article from this weeks’ Daily Mail - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-expect-double-digit-hikes-car-insurance.html

For years, our scheme insurers tended to avoid these increases when all around we were hearing of price jumps.

However, fortunately, we are still writing plenty of business even though these increases have been imposed nationally. I still see on forums that our insurance scheme is making savings for forum users (and some large – a £200 saving was quoted on one forum this week!

Therefore, I’d encourage you to call us for a quotation if your renewal is due within the next 21 days or so. You will also be able to take up our competitively priced full UK breakdown cover at £54.50. Please just ask my colleague when you ring for a quote.

The new criteria of not accepting any bhp increase mods by more than 20bhp does affect some on the forum but we are still busy though we’re sorry that this precludes some from getting a quote from us.

Please ring 0800 917 2274 or 01424 200477 and quote the club reference number found in my signature.

I recently taken out a policy with yourselves paying by direct debit.

The quote was £41.23 per month over a period of ten months.

However today, i receive a letter from Close Premuim Finance saying my direct debit for the insurance with you is now: - £54.97 per month for ten months?!!

The thing is, i taken out the policy with you, and was quoted the £41.23 per month, over email, phone and on the forms i filled in and returned. It was never mentioned that there would be hidden costs, and id be paying an extra £13 a month with another company? Id rather cancel the policy and go with somebody else if this is the way things work.

I have contacted yourselves, about this and am currently waiting for a response. (If i get a response). :(

Hi there
This has just been brought to my attention. I'm afraid they made an administration error and though it's the first time i've known them do this in 10+ years, it is still an error.

Please accept our apologies and i have been told that they are rectifying this as we speak.

Sorry again.

Please keep me informed from your side as well.

Thanks
Tim

What exactly is your niche of the market now, if you're not covering modified cars (over 20bhp increases)? I thought your target market was marque enthusiasts - the majority of whom modify their cars - and that you aimed to be highly competitive in this market.

It seems you are now removing yourself from your own market...

That and the majority of people who own any Type R are not over the age of 30!

Tbh, we've never specialised just in modified cars. The scheme caters for standard ones as well. We are still doing plenty of quotes so it's not doom and gloom!

A relatively small business can't just say that to the bank though. Admiral and Aviva might get away with it, but I doubt Chris Knott do.

Hi there
Just to let you know our offices are still open despite the amount of snow we’ve had.
Some of us, like myself, are snowed in but half the staff are working.
