where's my vtec gone??

just wonderin if anyone could help me figure out my dilemma!!

i've recently gotten my 4th eg 1.5vti and vtec doesnt seem to be working on it!!

i got if from a friend of mine who rarely drove it and I'd had a few spins in it and it had been vtecing properly and i've asked him and he's none the wiser as to why it's not working as he'd done nothing to it before i got it!!

i'm handy with spanners so i've had a li'l root at it and checked all connections and checked oil pressure but I'm not 100% sure what pressure I should have and where so if anyone has ideas on that i can check it and get back to you here and anything else anyone could add would be taken into account!!

thanks in advance robbie!!

Harv you would'nt be any help,

You lost your 'Vtak' ages ago and still havent found it...

i had that problem and found it had just come unplugged, cost me 35 quid for them to plug it back in!

You dont want it full of oil mate, just enough, between the min and high marks on the dip stick.

Lack of oil seems is the main cause of 'missing' vtec.

it's never full over the max mark and as the vtec works off oil pressure thats why low oil would affect vtec but the oil level isn't the problem ere!!

unplugged how??

everything under the bonnet has been unplugged and plugged back in and theres still no change!!

someone told me that i could put a live on a switch straight to the solenoid and switch it on and off while drivin but that didn't sound very safe to me would anyone know if it was or not for sure??

i dont know mate, they just told me it was unplugged and they just plugged it back in, did,nt ask any questions at the time just glad it was sorted, i can give you the guys number if you want, he,s good, honda specialist.
