Honda #4 - FN2 GT (Nav/HFT)

Had a bit of time to tidy the interior up today :)

Was looking like this when I brought it home

Today I cleaned up all the footwells with Megs All Purpose Cleaner and triple detail brush.
Hoovered the whole car

Megs APC on all the seats, applied with an Autoglym Microfibre Interior Pad
Scrub in gently, then blot away with a dry towel to avoid water marks.
All door cards and plastics cleaned with APC and protected with 303 Aerospace.

This is the pedal box before cleaning

And the sills were a bit dirty

Pedals again

Bit of bobbling on the drivers side bolster - we'll soon have that sorted :D

Half way there

And done.:)

The tool to sort it soooo easily.
£10 or something, mother in law bought it me back in 2006!!

Pedals looking like new again

Red Honda Type R mats added

Then I had this little fella make himself comfortable in the garage.
He wouldn't fly out on his own and kept moving from one place to the other.
...until he flew up and got stuck behind the back of my racking.
He was right under the bottom shelf, I could see him with the torch, and I think he was frightened.
So ALL the stuff had to come out the bottom of the garage, jacks, ramps, axle stands, machines, boxes, bottles, files, and emptied the racking so I could shift it.
Soon as I lifted it off him he flew out the side door - thankfully not hurt.

Getting back to it, I left the interior looking like this.
You can see the seats are quite a lot cleaner and brighter.

Love the passenger side temp control on the GT.

The seats came up like new.

And a few late shots parked back up in the garage.
Footwell lighting is great with the new mats in

They just put the alloy Type R logo in the perfect place to reflect nicely when you open the door.

Happy with the outside, happy with the inside now.
Cosmetic bits done other than the alloys to be refurbed.

That is soo clean i wouldn't want to sit in it. Cracking job you've done though in cleaning it mate.

Thanks Mr.H

The inside is virtually flawless.
Outside has picked up a few stone chips, but is generally in good condition.

Purpose of buying the car is to use at the weekend and my days off in the week to just experience some driving pleasure.
I'm hoping to get all over the place in it.
North Yorks moors
Evo Triangle
North Coast 500 ??

Your welcome.

Still looks clean from the photos. The north coast 500 is a great idea but miles away from me. Hopefully one day though I'll be able to do it.

Top work and great photos!

I'm watching this very closely because as of three days ago I'm also an fn2 owner :)

Mine's a 57plate and the mats are slightly different to yours.. I don't have footwell lights either :(

Bit of an update.

I had the usual Honda wiper arm issue.
Corrosion on the arm, bubbling up and looking an eyesore.

Did look a bit of a mess :(

And a tiny bit further down

Easy enough to remove, I stuck some masking tape under where the wiper blade was touching the screen so I could line up the splines correctly when putting it back together.
Pop the plastic nut cover off and remove the nut with a 17mm socket/spanner

All I used to clean up the corrosion and bubbling was P1000 wet and dry paper (used dry)

Disposable seat covers made for a nice protective sheet on the garage floor.

Another one wrapped around the rest of the wiper arm as I only wanted to paint the bottom bit where it bolts on.

Neat bit of masking so theres no horrible paint lines

First coat drying.

I used Hammerite Satin spray paint, and applied 3 coats at least 15 minutes apart, this gave a really nice finish, though I should have probably applied slightly more on the final coat.
Whilst I was waiting for it to dry I removed the HKS panel filter and replaced with a genuine Honda one.

I think the HKS had done its job, and was ready for a change

I'm not dead keen on the flange of the HKS

Whereas the Honda one has a rubber seal around it above and below

Part code off the packing

I had been a bit disappointed with the pick up of the car on hard acceleration at lows revs where it seemed to stutter and lag before 'going'
Replacing with a new filter has sorted this nicely and pick up is back to what you would expect.

I hung the wiper arm on the clothes line for a couple of hours

And putting it back on the car, made easy with the blue masking tape marking its original position

Looks good close up

Jobs a good 'un.
Cost to sort out - £8 and a bit of time.

Tidied the boot up too, it had an original boot liner in and an original additional boot mat, but both were pretty dirty.
Hoovered and scrubbed with an upholstery brush and Megs APC.

Rubber boot liner scrubbed with APC and wiped with a cloth, then protected with 303 aerospace

And with the carpet mat dropped back on top

Went out for a Thursday afternoon spin before picking the lad up from school.

Headed out past Newark and towards RAF Waddington along the A17, then out to Bardney, then up to Wragby and Market Rasen before dropping back thro Lincoln and back towards home.
100 mile round trip just for a laugh

I wanted to get over to Horncastle and up past Cadwell to Louth but I ran out of time because of the wiper painting

Tyres are bedding in nicely though. :)

Cracking job, it certainly is satisfying after cleaning it isn't it :)

I normally take the seats out as well lol

I think the GP kit at the front suits the silver ;)
