Akina's EG5. Haters welcome

Soooooo, I was hungry for a project EG and this POS turned up for a £monkey. It's the ESi, better than I hoped for that price because it's got rear discs and coilovers. The 1.6ltr Vtec is pretty nippy too.

It's some sort of greeny blue with a black bonnet and the wheels are from a Mini Cooper S - sprayed black with a rainbow flake in. They look nice in the sun - honest!

Pretty huh? They're for sale if anyone's interested. Pirelli and Yokohama tyres!

Anyway, first thing was to strip out the back and remove all the sound deadening material. Many hours passed as chipping that shizzle off is not a pleasant task...

After removing all five patches in the rear, I gave it one coat of Hammerite Stone Chip protecting paint.

People ask me how much louder is it without the sound deadening... My reply; I don't know, because the hole in the inner arch has always been the loudest thing in the car. Welding is required, but i'm going to fibreglass that up instead.

Now, this is supposed to be a cheap project until the K20 swap happens - however, I have loved the Rota (Sakura) Aleica's since they were a retro Japanese wheel. Thankfully, they were now in my price range and my buddy Phil at Driftworks (name dropping like a BOSS) let me have their last set so they couldn't take them to TRAX. Legend. Next day delivery - I never expected such good service from drifters.

They are 15x8J and have an offset of 0 (zero).

Front arch mods were required. Basically, just removed the arch liner and pulled the lip as hard as I could until it fitted. I am McGuyver.

So, the EG currently looks like:

I'll work on the rear arches tomorrow. I'm too lazy to do it now.

Fucking winning mate

I actually love this car. Great project, I love threads like this.

Those wheels, yeah are a vile colour, but they look awsome.

It's amazing how much difference a set of wheels make to the whole look of a car.

Thanks guys :)

Filled one of the rear arches today - also removed the redundant aerial from the A-pillar (no radio required when you have Vtec). Still got the passenger side to do - as well as a Blue Peter style respray. I'm going White - mainly because it's easier - and White cars are cooler.

It's a tall order to get it done for JAE, but I'll try. I've no experience doing anything like this, so it's a steep learning curve.

For the record; it's not 'Euro Look'. I want the maximum track and rubber on the ground once the new engine goes in. So it'll just look Euro for 6 months or so lol.
