What a crap start to your ownership. I don't think I could have been as patient as you were! But it would appear you had a dealer that was willing to help and more importantly in these situations have open communications. I also have to say, what a brilliantly written post.

Yes you can end a PCP deal early but it will typically cost you more. Maybe less in the case of the FK8 if the depreciation remains low, but I would not enter a PCP thinking you can leave it early without additional costs. You can withdraw from a PCP deal penalty free within the first 14 days...

I had this on my 1st FN2, from memory it only affected half the dash. I had to hit the dash on the top and it would fix it. It was so infrequent that I never bothered to investigate any further, before selling the car.

It sounds like there is not a bad descion to be made as both are great cars. I would ignore the concerns about delays of the civic, and but the car that you want more. A 4 week delays is small issue in 2-3yr ownership of a car. Plus if you do get a 4 week delay I'm sure you get some...

Looked around the new Type-R at Goodwood on Sunday. From Photo's I really liked the aggressive styling, but in the flesh I think the implementation looks cheap. Especially the black plastic trim sections, and the steering wheel is awful.

Its more in your face than what we have seen before in Type-R's. Yes its expensive, but to keep up with the big boys i.e Golf R and Focus RS that was always going to be the case. What I really don't get is how long its taken to be released. I can not see any customers to get one on the road...

Nice choice. One of the mates who I car share with has the same car. It has the exact same spec, minu the Adaptaive suspension and keyless entry. The acceleration is brutal.

I had this in the EP3 but not the FN2. When like Loxy said, the cable had become disconnected. On the EP3, you could remove an access panel in the boot to temporary remove the locking mechanism and open the fuel cap.

The last Civic (FN2 shape) came out in 2005 and was replaced in 2011 i.e 6 year life, with a Type-R model released in Feb 2007. The current model came out late 2011 so based on the last generation could be replaced in 2017. There seems to be a lot of hype and development for a model that will...

Its been a few years since I had an FN2. But IIRC on the LHS of the CD slot is a 'Display' button. If you press that it cycles through the various displays, i.e Track number, Artist, Track name, Album name etc.

I presume you have a FN2? Text is only displayed if you have ripped MP3's onto a CD.
