EP3 Steve Satin Silver Premier 2006

wow, its been nearly 2 years since I was on here! Car has probably done about 1,000 miles in that time and is currently sitting pretty under wraps on the garage. Tempted to get her out in the summer and give it a blast for old time sake.. especially since I put a new set of tyres on all round...

EP3 Steve Satin Silver Premier 2006

Power boys, I want power. Yes, I know what you're going to say, but we've all been here. This isn't used on a track and I think OEM brakes are fine for me, I don't drive regularly - it's stored in the garage but when I want a little fun, I will bring it out. I think the benefits of smoothing in...

EP3 Steve Satin Silver Premier 2006

I've seen threads that think it's fine up to 300bhp but someone else, can't recall who, was quite restricted with it below that. At worst I could (just about) accept a nice oval shaped exhaust but all the others I see, I dislike. I especially don't want anything louder than OEM. New exhaust and...

Right then.. £1500 to invest, what shall I do.. already has new clutch, FRSU, Tegiwa intake. I want more power but want to keep,OEM exhaust and cat, can't be doing with replacing for MOTs! I'm thinking manifold & k100..? Would love north of 230bhp

Crunchy 4th gear? Any help to a newbie

I'd stick to OEM clutch, box might not need any repairs it could all be down to the clutch itself. Worthwhile spending the extra £100 odd to get the box checked whilst it's out for th clutch replacement. Good luck

Quick update, service all done at honda and visual check completed with zero comments or advice anywhere. Great news, finally after a few months and many additional £'s spent (and probably only about 850 driven miles later) the 'new purchase' and she is all tidy and back in the garage under...

Tounge in cheek by a Chris re credit card but he makes a valid point, step back and relax... gone full circle on the next mods you want in a matter of a few days.. if you're keeping the car forever, it don't need to be all done in a few weeks. Yes it does outside of vtec + improved throttle response. Could do yourself but as above, it's essential for the Tegiwa. £380 sounds rights from memory. I wouldn't bother with the fancy blue or red hose pipes if you want to keep costs down

EP3 I am a total car noob but the Ep3 has always been my dream car since i was about 10.

Yes, I believe there is a drain hole in the pipe leading down in to the engine. Water won't get in to engine. Never heard an whistle noise though. It just sounds great, all the time ha

Not sure I agree with the metallic or raspy comments re the gruppe M, firstly I wouldn't pay for a gruppe M when the Tegiwa is relatively cheaper and provides the same advantages (plenty of debates on this I know). I have the Tegiwa and don't hear such noises, in fact it sounds really raw in the...

Tegiwa + air scoop sounds better than my old ep3 which had a cone induction with heat shield. Also I find throttle response is noticeably different in comparison to cone.. my experience of course

EP3 I am a total car noob but the Ep3 has always been my dream car since i was about 10.

Drop a cold air intake, night and day difference in sound when hitting the vtec range... I'm not a fan of 'exhaust noise' but that vtec cross over is what makes the cars imo + I second all of the opinions re keeping OEM exhaust, don't like the single pipe exhausts and as for th dolphin shaped...

Ep3 feels sluggish (i think) after a rebuild

Hey Ricky, quick question mate, I'm in this same position re the engine rebuild c.800 miles ago. I was told to change the engine oil and filter which ties in nicely because I'm due annual service (despite only covering 1000 miles since last one) which I'll take to honda for. What is engine...

Go pick it up and drive it home. It's been driven still so unless it's got something obviously wrong with it (which it won't because you've done these checks already) you'll be fine. Don't over worry, no need to tread on egg shells, they are solid cars. As above, don't put oil in if it's got...

EP3 Unsilenced B-pipe with OEM backbox.

Cheers Bazza. I like the sound of the Tegiwa and vtec, I wouldn't want any exhaust noise above the OEM to be honest. I might do k100 with just intake and benefit from the mid range improvements.

Whilst on the topic of midlands cars, I'm thinking about the k100 and the associated mods - already got Tegiwa intake but additionally a manifold and exhaust system. Looking for 220-240 BHP. Really don't want a loud exhaust and ideally something that looks OEM, don't like the single pipe...

It sounds plausible, no issues so long as it works fine. No need to 'gamble' on a car which doesn't have service history though, it could be well maintained and perfect but I personally wouldn't risk it. Each to their own and if you're happy, grab it.

Good point, I would print off that buyers list within the forum and go through most of that if your arranging a viewing.. Good sign that it, appears, to have one main owner for the past 12 or so years so I would imagine service history would all be in place etc.. Fingers crossed, keep us informed.

His advertisement photos are with bird sh*t down his bonnet, not an indication of a car that has been looked after. As above, he has highlighted dents and scratches which you can guarantee will be worse than he is eluding to. Your end goal is to get a car which can be looked after and is in...

  53. Ep3steve

EP3 I am a total car noob but the Ep3 has always been my dream car since i was about 10.

It didn't fail for the oil leak, it failed for the handbrake, I imagine this was tweaked and then a subsequent MOT was done and passed. The oil leak is an advisory, and scrolling back through the history it's not been mentioned before. If it has a new engine, recently, should it be leaking a bit...

My ep3 has had an engine swap, I managed to speak to the chap who did the work (not who I bought the car off) my cars engine runs sweet. If it's been done properly then I see it as an advantage.

EP3 I am a total car noob but the Ep3 has always been my dream car since i was about 10.

Also living in the vtec would give considerably less fuel economy. If you drive it conservatively it's not much difference to any other 2.0 Ltd engine
  57. Ep3steve

EP3 I am a total car noob but the Ep3 has always been my dream car since i was about 10.

A lot of these questions comes down to opinions, me personally I wouldn't want to buy a car which had been modified beyond induction and exhaust but others will make a fair argument that the modified cars have probably been looked after more than most, and with no expense spared. This is why I...

Pretty much echo what was said above, what is your budget for the ep3? This will determine what likely condition you can expect to achieve. I owned an ep3 a few years back and had some great fun in it, using is as a daily I would get around 230 miles per full tank. I must admit, it seen some...

That's the plan! Thing is, initially if they had just been reasonable I would have asked for a contribution but their attitude is terrible.
