After 4.5 Years.......

Been thinking of getting my car detailed by the lads at Polish Bliss (or something like that) to get rid of the fine scratches and swirl marks.

spaced_chris got his Zed done last year and did a really good job and i know hes getting them down again in May but the price has gone up to something like £30+vat an hour and he reckons he will need to spend 10-12hrs (maybe more) on doing my car alone.

Its a lot of money which unfortuntely i dont have at the moment so going to give it a miss this time, but defintely want it done 8)

Yeah, can be quite dear... a few years ago I paid about £170 for someone to respray a few deep scratches on my car... was at a time when I was pretty skint as well so I decided to learn how to do it myself. :D Since then I've done a few VW's, CTRs - inc' NHB, SS and MR... CG is notoriously difficult so, I'm steering clear of that!

Cosmic has to be really bad for you to notice it in the first place.

Only when under halogens could I see a few swirl marks on mine and that was only the roof.

I'm talking about the base coat colour match mate not the clear coat. Black is pretty easy to match, but the clearcoat has to be perfect, silver is difficult to match but the clear coat doesn't have to be perfect. Grey, is difficult full stop. Well, I suppose I haven't worked on a cosmic so I'm just going by what people say.

Heres one I did last weekend...

Thats mint, how much of the lip did you paint.

thats the only think i cant do

read about people using Gunk and jet washing the engine bay but i really dont fancy that- i'll end up killing the engine or something
Its dead easy and with Gunk you don't really need a jet wash just a normal hose rinse it off.

Took the day off to give the car a really good clean and wax ready for the winter months.

Cleaned the wheels with Megs wheel brightener.
Rinsed car
Use the Glimour Gun with 4cm of snow foam and 2cm of Meg NXT shampoo- left for 10mins
Rinsed
2 bucket method with Meg NXT shampoo with Megs wash mitt
Rinsed and dried with Sonus der wonder drying towel
Megs clay bar and quik detailer
Rinsed
2 bucket method with Megs NXT again
Rinsed and dried again
Jetseal- covered the car with a thin layer of this- (first time i've done this after reading so many good reviews on DW) left for 20mins
While waiting, gave the rear exhaust pipe a quick polish with Megs polishing stuff.
Buffed off Jetseal with Sonus buffering towel.

Quite impressed with how the car looks now (apart from the bumpers which i still havent sorted out yet  ) and theres a really nice good shine to the car.

Obviously, its been cloudy all day but hopefully you can still see from the pics.

Theres a couple especially for Harv :p

Comments welcome

like what Lee?

i thought Jetseal acts like a wax/glaze??

the only other thing i have is Meg NXT wax which is what i usually use but decided to try the Jetseal instead.

You suggesting i put the Meg NXT wax ontop?

AndyH used some Dodo Wax Lime Prime glaze iirc on my pals car & the depth was great. Add something like Nattys Red or Blue would great on top.

Don't use NXt wax as I think it has some slight abrasive qualities & would start eating the Jeseal.

What was the Jetseal product your used?

i thought there was only one Jetseal?

Jetseal 109

Been reading about the Dodo stuff but i think i better use up all my products first before buying anymore as theres quite a collection i've built up now

Sorry mate was thinking of this instead JEFFS Werkstatt Acrylic Jett Trigger
Which is a sealant, albeit a good one & very easy to use.
Spray on, wipe off.

Although what you've used is a sealant too, so all the hard work with claying etc is locked in now until the sealant breaks down. A glaze on top & wax on top of that would give even better results ;)

Next time you wash you could add either or/both & it would be ok imo.

Dodo stuff is that good AndyH is moving from some of the Swisswax products to Dodo :cool:

You could have used the Nxt Wax after cleaning the car before the sealant.

It has fillers and will fill in swirls etc, plus a wax.
I still use it a lot after I have polished and before I put on my final layers of sealant and wax.

Looking good Gary. Hopefully mine will look that good after I get it detailed in the near future.
