DC5 restoration - track project

It looks like it has come up pretty well from the condition it was in when you first got it :D

I know of a nice one that will be coming up shortly, but going to think he is going to be asking top money for it, could get rid of the Mini and have 2 Honda's lol

Few more parts needed then she's ready. Would have picked her up yesterday but have been let down by a supplier.

I take it you are hopefully trying this out at Donington at the end of month?
Might pop along to spectate and take pics if weather is okay and I am free

Little DC5 project. Track slut.

Looks great. Can't help thinking that south mimms spec rear towing eye needs removing though.. or at least spraying black perhaps.

I think you should book it in with a local Detailer for a basic detail , after your track day. Just to get the paint up to a good standard for easy cleaning afterwards.

I might paint it myself.

Not sure there's any point with a detail. Money would be better spent in other areas.

Wouldn't have to be a major one. Just a basic one to bring the paint back. I remember having a £140 one done on my DC5 and after that it was a doddle to keep clean.

£140 is a lot of times through the automated roller machines, that'll make sure it's clean

Guessing you've been let down by wheel and/or tyre arrival?
Nice find though, and pretty swift turnaround to get it back on the road, looked very sorry for itself. Should be an absolute hoot, made better by the knowledge that it's comparatively cheap motoring.

No Karl, it needs a new master brake cylinder. It has been sent apparently, but TGM haven't received it. I believe Tom has ordered another now. The suspension is on but it's not been set up and I believe the wheels and tyres will be fitted when the part finally turns up!

Just picked her up. Bite to eat then driving home. The front bumper is a bit yellow but I didn't want to pay to paint it. It'll do for track.

Loving the wheels and how they sit on the car. Also love the size of the front brakes.

Cheers. She's a little rough around the edges but it'll do.

One thing that strikes me is just how good DC5s still look. It's 16 years old and still looks modern. Dare I say one of the best looking cars ever made.

When I look at the last lot of pics I took of mine, the first thing that comes to mind is how good they still look.
