I have just seen it in the flesh at my local dealer. Very nice in black. Looking forward to my test drive
 
Chiswick Honda sent me a video of their Black Demo just off the trailer - was hoping it would be Championship White (like my order) but no worries.

Apparently the sales guys are off to a race track in it this afternoon....presumably learning how to drive it properly and not stack it into a dpd van on the customer Demos...

I've bought a ticket in the 1st class section of the Hype train. Just hope there are no leaves on the line......

10.30 tomorrow shall be giving it a whirl. Weather looks dry so looking fwd to it. Coming from an analogue Mk1 Focus RS so gonna take a bit to get over that thing called 'refinement' and all the toys - "Woah whats that?" " that's an 'Infotainment screen sir" "Driving Modes???, 6th Gear?? Get out of here!"

Due to arrive in dealers October out here, tempted to have a poke around. Although at "From $58,085*" it's firmly placed in competition with the V8 mustang, so my plans are probably not going to change.
 
Had a sit in one today when dropping mine in for a service. As I suspected, it really is nice in the flesh and the interior is a much nicer place to be with decent materials used. Have been given a 1.5 Sport for the day and I've been really impressed, ride is lovely and handles well, so I can't wait to see what the FK8 offers.
 
So back from my test drive and still beaming to be honest.

After months of seeing pics and vids on the t’interweb, seeing it in the showroom for the first time blew me away. It just looks freaking awesome. Couldn’t get over the size of it to be honest, but once inside it just wraps around you.

Young Salesman did his usual drive out of the dealers, and managed to wheelspin it in 2nd a couple of times in the bone dry (felt sorry for the car to be honest!). Then it was my turn and gelled with it immediately. Its effortlessly quick, real naughty speeds with no drama. I have seen a couple of vids of comparing with the focus when you drop a gear and floor it and I do understand how some might find the civic too composed compared to the RS hooligan side bouncing down the road, but the more I drove it, the more I appreciated it as an overall package. The gearshift for me makes it, the low seating position, the excellent visibility, the absolute composure and confidence at any speed. Comfort mode to R+ is night and day difference and shows how broadly talented this thing is.

Only disappointment which I was ready for was the exhaust note. Its not non-existent. I don’t know why Honda designed such a great thing to look at, only for it to be not part of the experience. Anyway, the looks thing was getting, I don’t think it needs anymore attention drawn to it!

So pleased to say did the deal, Champ White GT hopefully coming anytime on or after 8th Sept.

Also fell for the Autoglym treatment package…..dam it

I've just had a good look over the black one in Chelmsford. Very nice (wish it was in blue that I have ordered ) . One thing I have noticed and didn't like was how much movement there is in the front and rear carbon effect bits. A little pressure on them and they really move. Way to much in my opinion and what happened to the rear and one of the cup holders ? They are not there. It has to be a really good test drive or I can see me getting the a45amg.
Plus I don't like the front seats like my fk2. But all that said the fk8 is stunning to look at
 
I borrowed my local dealers demo for the day.

Unlike the chap above I thought it was a bit dull at first (to drive). Comfort and Sport modes are both pointless in my opinion--I drove it almost exclusively in +R mode. It is definitely more comfortable in Comfort mode, but +R mode is very plush and the damping is very smooth. It's nothing like +R mode in the FK2. However, in +R mode, the throttle rsponse is not as good as the FK2 in +R mode, it's not as sharp, which was surprising.

The exhaust is a bit quiet until you properly boot it and at the top end of the rev range makes a really cool noise--you can hear the centre small pipe working.

It is a Type R, but there is a lot left in it and the tuners are going to have a field day.

Am I going to buy one?

Yes

Am I going to chop in my FK2 for one?

Undecided....
