Guide to the Gruppe M - please read before posting!

Ok cool, well crazy noise sounds great, as do the lack of draw backs, plus my CTR looks like it used to have one as the scuttle pannel is already cut, where should i look to get one (Gruppe M), obviously cheaper the better....any ideas?

Newera imports or Gruppe M direct are the only places you can order them from. Both will be roughly same price

The rubber seal around the lip of the air intake squeeks rather loudly (especially when wet) against either the scuttle or where it meets the bonnet. Anyone had this problem? If so how did you cure it? I've been repositioning the box by loosening the big clip but to no success.

I was considering getting adhesive foam and applying it to the contact areas.

Of all of the AEM's fitted on CTR's mine would be the most likely to suffer Hydrolock - and it has never happened.

After a drive along the M6 (M62 to A14) in torrential rain I had no problems whatsoever with Hydrolock. 8)

So is the Gruppe M worth the extra £260 :?:

If you desire the ultimate in Induction Porn then yes, I would say it is.

If you want quality at a budget, AEM is the one - if you can stretch to Gruppe M prices then you will have to top of the range shizzle. 8)

ok cheers, i have decided to go for the AEM cai, then later on ...money permitting i might up things to the Gruppe M, mainly because the AEM wont depreciate in value so i can sell it on, and i am about to get my own house....hence the lack of cash.

Neither will the Gruppe M & you'll sell it all day long.

Both great bits of kit imo

Has anyone got a sound clip of the Gruppe M so I can compare against the CAI.

I have a standard pre faclift CTR with no mods.

What are the rough torque/power gains of a Gruppe M vs CAI. Preffably on a standard ctr.

------

To be honest wouldn't mind the power/torque increase but don't want something that you can hear from a mile away and that will be too intrusive.

I had a K&N induction kit in my Rover 214sei and it did sound mint but got on your nerves at motorway speeds.

-------

Swaying towards to CAI mainly due to cost/fitting. If I don't like the CAI not too much work to take it off and sell.

Try the likes of 'You Tube' website... lots of Gruppe M sound clips on there

Gruppe M

I curently have a K&N typhoon, could I marry up the intake from a Gruppe with the nice red smoot h part of my typhoon to gain from both?

rain water

have just bought gruppe m kit and noticed on the instructions that it says "the filter case has a drain hole, but dont drive in the rain with the intake open"
was just wondering if anyone has had any problems with water getting inside,or if the drain hole enough to get rid of it all?cheers

None at all.

Just wondering if anyone has meshed up the scoop?

It'd stop small animals getting in there and the local 'possy' from sticking stuff down it?! ;)

dude the hole isnt that big, small animals? i may get a few flies but animals arent going down there. it would more than likely get stuck in it which would be the same as if you were meshing it.

you could use the scoop part scuttle panel of the gruppe m for a better air flow to the typhoon, thats your best bet. i did this because my car came with a typhoon and i had bought a gruppe m before i got the car (prep ftw) and just fancied trying it. worked better than without as you would imagine.
