My EP3, TDi Turbo Kit. 420bhp + 300ftlb @ 12Psi. 12.6s @119mph, Street Tyres

Hi Pete,

The Cobra seat rails that have a flat edge for bolting to the floor, will not fit. I bought the ones with the flat edge, and there is a raised part of the EP3 floor that the OEM seat rails bolt into horizontally not vertically, which the Cobra rails dont accommodate for. The Buddyclub ones fit perfectly, and are designed for the EP3 and most bucket seats. As Jimbo said they are excellent.

Going back to the Cobra Imola Pro seats, the Imola's are wider than the Suzuka's, I couldn't fit comfortably into the Suzuka's if Im honest, the Imola's were much more comfortable with the extra couple of cm's of width.

I had seat rail troubles too, I also ended up with Buddy Club super low rails. They're excellent, definitely worth the money.

That's brilliant, thanks both!!

I will make sure I get the Buddy Club rails opposed to Cobra's own rails :)

That's also good to know about the Imola style seats Tom, looks like I would be better off with a pair of those rather than the Suzuka style.

Really glad I asked the question now, thanks again both!! :)

No worries Pete, glad I could help.

Spent today locating all of my turbo kit, and getting it together to sell.

:smt023 is there anything else that you think I will need to know or allow for Tom, or is it simply bolting the Cobra's to the Buddy Club rails and then straight into the car?

I bet it brought back some memories digging out your turbo kit? absolute epic build mate and its still a shame to think of it being split, plus I never got that passenger ride haha.

Yeah Pete, bolt the rails in first, leave the bolts slightly loose and then fit the seats, dont tighten anything up to the max, sit in the seat and make sure its where you want it and are comfortable, if its a bit high or tilting too much, take it out and reposition it. It took me about 6 weeks to get it exactly where I wanted it and was most comfortable. Also whilst your test fitting it, put a bit of card or cloth inbetween the seats and rails to avoid scratches.

Yeah it was a walk down memory lane, still amazed at the size of the turbo.

Tom, absolute star thank you mate! I know exactly the route I want/need to go down now :)

What are you driving at the moment mate? any plans to go back to a Honda or focusing more on the Canada fund?

No worries fella, glad I could help.

Currently driving a Ford Ranger from work, which is a really nice drive besides a horrible gearbox. Still got the EJ9 but that will be going shortly, she is getting a new car in the next few weeks, and Im thinking of getting myself a diesel estate so we can move the dogs about. Nothing exciting though.

Canada fund is increasing though, getting myself through as much training as possible through work, while it costs nothing, hoping to start my HGV in the next couple of months. 7 years to go.

Bet the Ranger is comfortable, is it a manual box or just a poor auto? I'm giving some serious thought into getting a second car to use as a daily, not only to help keep the mileage off the EP3 but I ideally want to remove the rear seats and rear trim.

What is the good lady getting?

Glad the Canada saving is going to plan, don't blame you at all mate ive heard its an amazing country.

Its manual, its just a horrible gear box, very much like the Vauxhall Nova I had when I was 17. It just feels like its miles from gear to gear, and its very clunky. It is comfortable though, and fairly quick given the size of it.

She is looking at a Fiesta, Focus or the like, one of the small engined diesels that are around £30 a year to tax. Ive been looking at an E46 beemer estate, or something similar. I literally do the 70 miles to and from work, and take the dogs to Southport every so often, so its not something Im going to spend a lot on.

I have seriously fallen out with cars if Im honest. I dont know if its age, disappointment or ambition, but one of the managers at work has got the new Jag XFR, and I went for a quick spin in it with him, and just couldn't get motivated about it.

So what are you looking at for a daily? Dont forget if you strip the weight out of the EP3, get your FRSU looked at, as the weight difference will throw it out a bit.

I quite like the Nissan Navara but heard they have poor manual gearboxes and poor engines too having said that haha, always find cars with rubbish gearboxes hard work and tiring to drive, my cousin had a Nova when he was 17 we thought it was the best thing in the world back then, ridiculous cherry bomb exhaust to boot haha.

Nice mate, the majority of the modern hatch's are really cheap to run and there are some really good looking models about to chose from, I didn't realise that you have a bit of a commute to and from work, you definitely could do with a nice comfortable tourer that will just cruise along and have enough room in the back to keep the dogs happy.

Shame to hear that you have lost the love for cars at the moment mate, it doesn't help that you have owned some crackers with the Aston and the boosted Civic always going to be difficult to replace, my cousin (who had the Nova) is due to trade up his Audi TT company car this year and said he's really struggling with the motivation to trawl around the dealerships looking at cars.

My granddad has got an old N reg auto civic which has never missed a beat, he's suffering with his legs a bit these days and may have to give up driving so if he does I will give him some money and have it as a daily, will keep an eye out if you put the EJ up for sale too, thanks mate I will make sure the FRSU gets checked if I manage to go down the route of stripping out the rear.

^^ excellent advice! I'm still fiddling with my seating position. I would say leave the seatbelts in if you can, I've been having nightmares with the SRS and seatbelt sensors. Should be possible even with a harness bar. Also, the harnesses with seatbelt buckles are so much better than aircraft style for using on the road.

Pete, you wouldn't regret an old Honda auto (assuming it's not a dog). I love mine as a daily, it's so much more relaxed than the EP in every way. I reversed into a pillar in a multi storey the other day and immediately laughed about it. I it also makes getting back into the EP feel that much more special.

That's also some really useful information to know cheers Jim :) had an email back from Cobra today to say that I cant buy direct from the factory, sods law as its literally 5 minutes down the road haha, thinking of using GSM and getting the job lot from them.

To be honest the body work on the auto is a bit tired but its never let him down a day in all the years he's had it and the interior is spotless, lol that's a great comment about backing it into the pillar and not giving a ****, pretty much exactly what I would want from a 2nd car.

Bar stewards! That cobra factory was on Turbo Pickers the other week... & they bought direct!! Walked the line and picked out which model etc.

Also.... on the same episode, they bought an exact replica of the millenium falcon seats from said factory, as made by the same guy who made the real ones for the movie - the founder of cobra seats.

Are you still sat on this turbo motor Thomas?

The motor is still in the Shell outside, the turbo kit is scattered about the house at the minute.

Such a shame :(

Chuck it in something hilarious. A Jazz. a CRV, a CRZ (that would be so fcuking awesome)!! Or go full retard and bang it in a fiat multipla.

lol my money obviously isn't good enough for them Hazz :D

sent GSM a couple of emails today and they seem really helpful, going to have a ride over to their unit in Nottingham to try a sample of seats for fitment/comfort but the favourite at the moment is the Cobra Imola style that Tom had fitted.

GSM are a good bunch, they worked tirelessly through a myriad of problems on my order, none of which were their fault.

Try the Buddy Clubs. Quality, function and jdm rare points second to none. I've spent literally days at a time in them, by far the best seats I've ever been in.

This was the plan, but lack of motivation and time and increased money saving have gotten in the way.

I had a read through the problems you had in your thread mate, sounded like you had a fair old game :( car looks great with the Buddy Clubs fitted though!!

I will have a look at the Buddy Club seats whilst I am there too, they seem really good value and another popular brand with Honda owners, good thing about GSM is I can try both seats on the same day to see which ones are a better fit. :)

Yeah, frikkin nightmare! Wish I'd had the option of trying a few out in the showroom before committing, got lucky in the end. Come to think of it, they might still have a couple of extra Bride seats laying around after all the confusion on my order!
