lol, ive driven paddle clutch setups before, and theyre only that bad when the pedal is super heavy. the lighter ones arent too bad. (i hope its as light as they advertised!!!lol)

oredered about mid-day yesterday, and it arrived around 10am this morning. just gotta see what my clutch is like as its not been in long at all. but i reckon i might aswell just chuck it in...

Right, back home after pretty much a 200 mile round trip and 8 hours of sitting in the same room!!!

Reconditioned 5 Speed Gearbox and Stage 4 Paddle Clutch fitted and...... it feels silky smooth. Gotta get used to the clutch, but 1st impressions - it feels good!! and im glad its ALOT lighter than what was in it before!!! its near enough stock pedal weight!!:)

Gearbox feels good, very smooth on going into gears and coming out of gears. bit of a shorter throw on the 5 speed aswell!

bit of a difference in revs in top gear.. cruising at about 80mph on my private air strip:

6 speed, 6th gear - 3k rpm
5 speed, 5th gear - 3.3/3.4k rpm

luckily for me, i dont do much motorway driving so its all good in the hood!!!

bit of a dent in the old wallet but at least its back and sorted!! damn these cars:mad: i blame the Jews:lol:

i was down in the workshop quite alot seeing my car in bits, but didnt wanna hang around him as i hate it when people watch me working

seeing as another 4K miles have come by, and the sun was just about out, or should i say it was dry, lol, thought id treat the car to a service. :)

Changed the Oil, Oil Filter and Spark Plugs. (Gearbox oil, Transfer Box Oil and Rear Diff Oil changed when the Gearbox was changed)

took a few snaps, theyre iphone quality so no moaning!!! Thought id take a few pics and put them up for the Evo owners among us, so they can do the same and save themselves a few hundred quid!!
;)

As standard, Driveway jobbie:lol:

Couldnt find the oil drain pan, so a bucket is the next best thing  all you need is a 14mm spanner, or 14mm socket on a wratchet for the sump plug, and a pair of large swan neck pliers for the oil filter. Whilst up on the stands, i done the usual, check for play in wheel bearings, bushes, any leaks, security of everything, all seemed shweeeeet!!

Only the best will do ;)

whilst letting the oil drain, thought id change the plugs over. Remove the 4 10mm bolts at each corner of the Mitsubishi Spark Plug Cover.

IMG_0328.jpg

Then you got the coil packs and leads. remove 3 10mm bolts per coil pack, then pull up on the leads and packs, they might be a bit tight, but thats how theyre meant to be.

IMG_0331.jpg

Use the Large Spark plug socket on an extension to whip the plugs out. take a look at each plug to make sure theyve been firing right. should look something like this..

IMG_0334.jpg

Then get the new ones ready. MAKE SURE YOU GAP THEM CORRECTLY, otherwise, too big a gap, the boost will blow the spark out, too small a gap, they wont spark properly!! for these plugs the Gap is set to 0.55. set it with a feeler gauge, and make sure there is a bit of friction when you slide the feeler gauge through, and that the 0.60 cant go in.

Then refit everything in the reverse order.

smear new oil filter with grease/oil on the rubber seal and tighten by HAND. Refit sump plug with new crush washer nice and tight, then fill with oil.

Lower car down off axel stands, check level (on flat ground), start engine and let it run for 15 seconds. check level again and top up as required.

Didnt take any pics of putting it back together as there was quite a large grey cloud coming my way

This was then followed by a nice wash, and when i went to leather it off....the usual...it started ****ing down!!!!!

anyways, main job was done for another 4K,

I saw an evo 8 mr fq 340 in the shell garage yesterday. Absolute porn! If I could male sure it would get over speed bumps I think I would get one as my next car! Only problem is I haveno idea how to drive a four wheel drive car.. Lol :D noob!

Only problem is I have no idea how to drive a four wheel drive car.. Lol :D noob!

Harris.

Drive it the same as you would drive any car, there's no difference apart from teh fact that all four wheels have drive.

Yeah that's fair enough I meant more if it slips out on me I wouldn't know how to re gain control etc..

If the back slips out, it's best to keep the power on, and give it a touch of opposite, but not much because if it bites you'll be tank slappin all over the place. You can't drift/steer into the slide like a RWD car!! Apart from that, it's the same!!! Lol

Thanks rm cya. That rings a bell is that your number plate? Do you come down Kent much? Can to pm me explaining in a bit more depth please. Will get one hopefully!

yeah its pretty much my plate! lol.

im down kent every now and again, got some family there, and the guy who maps mine and my mates Evos lives in Chatham.

ill sort out a technical indepth pm for you to read through!! lol

Ah that's it then mate I live in rainham. It's like the next town alonglol. When your down next let me know and we cam meet. I've definately seen that plate around! I saw a grey evo filling up in wigmore shell garage yesterday.. One of your mates? Thanks for that pm mate. Ine of my other mates (plate was hi evo or something similar) wrote it off one night a year ago.. I wouldn't want that..

Bit of a strange one...

noticed a couple of drops of oil on under my car the other day, so jacked it up and had a quick look and it looked like it was coming from the sump plug, so i thought WTF now??? checked the sump plug to see if it was loose, and it was fine, so i thought its either the sump plug crush washer that is split (but i fitted a new one, ) or the sumps leaking, possibly a crack etc. Oil level had only dropped just under max level, thank f-ck for that as Silkolene oil is expensive!!

Anyways, had a good old rummage around under the car, and noticed something a bit odd...

Oil was dripping out of the actual Sump Bolt!! where the flat meets the base!!!

I dont know the make of these bolts as they were already fitted to the car before i bought it but i was just gonna say, if youve got some fitted, have a quick look come the next time the cars jacked up!!

Went and got my box of bits i got with the car and found the standard sump plug, popped to the stealers, got a new crush washer, then done the worlds quickest bolt swap trying not to lose any oil!!!
