yeah because it's right at the back of the engine, but the cold air feed should help still, or dont you think it makes much difference?
i would prefer it near the top because when it comes to cleaning you dont have to jack the car up

The cold air feed helps, but it doesn't get away from the fact that you have a filter completely exposed in what will be a hot engine bay.
 
No your correct the Injen requires the removal of the battery and usually the wheel as well, AEM is far easier and just as good IMO

oh no, i do completely agree with you on that, i was just saying about the convenience of it that was all. and after a day or two with my new car, i have now had first hand experience with how hot it gets, when i say first hand i mean hand + rocker cover = jumping around in pain in tesco car park

I wouldn't have fancied having an AEM CAI yesterday, on driving home I hit some DEEEP puddles that I think would have 99% caused hydro lock. The rain came out of no where didn't it?

So the old "I will just avoid large puddles" wont do it, as most of the time you hit surface water you do not expect it (aquaplane) and it can be deeper than you first think.

Speaking of yesterday, I was on the M4 home when the rain really started coming down. I was between junctions and nothing I could do, was aquaplaning all over the place due to the paradas and really worried about the AEM CAI.

There was just so much water on the road coupled with the spray, the car started hesitating like it was going to stall and revs wandered. I managed to get it to a service station which was conveniently close, and switched the engine off. Stuck my hand down the hole behind the headlight and sure enough the filter was wet. Even through the hydro sock.

I knew I wasn't going to be driving for a while so popped on an extra jumper and went to sleep, woke up an hour later with it still raining but looking brighter. 30 minutes later the rain had stopped. Checked the filter again and the hydro sock was dry, and the filter was only wet near the plastic base.

Jumped in the car and drove home, never again. They are not worth the hassle. Didn't even try an vtec that night, but had an instance when it snowed where if wouldn't work. Been out in the car this morning and all is fine, I was very lucky.
 
Going to put the original air box back on this afternoon. Saving for a Gruppe M.

Annoying that the mounting bracket has snapped off the AEM as well, despite their rubber mount thing, so it probably sell for peanuts. Might complain and see if they will send me a new pipe so I can sell it for a reasonable price.
 
You dont really need the mounting bracket in all fairness.

Gruppe M = all round win, as wet as it was (I was on the M25, H'row area Booo) I had no worries about my engine Hydrolocking :D

Parada's = Great in the dry, not so good in the wet as I have experienced before.

I have Goodyear Eagles on at present and I find them a good all round tyre - maybe worth a punt ;) - I will be putting these on again when the time comes.
 
But having read the last few posts who in their right mind would want one now!


People still will, I had one on my car when I bought it but never realy used it in the wet and recently it was changed over to the Gruppe M

Also when they first came out I put one on my silver CTR (2004 time) and it was great in the summer (dry) but the worry of hydrolock soon put me off them.
