Your AEM questions answered.

i thought that when cars are tested with induction kits that there's a 60mph head wind and the bonnet is open to give maximum gains.

Anyone confirm this?

4.How much HP will I get from each kit?

This is not an absolute answer, anything from 5-12hp has been seen on dynos in both the UK and the USA but in my opinion the CAI will have a more consistent power gain and the general concensus is the CAI will release more power than the V2 kit.

Interesting, but so why ABP writes on the contrary: AEM CAI kit +15bhp,AEM V2 Induction kit +18?

I fitted a V2 to my car a few months ago, absolutely love the sound. It's not crazy boy racer sounding but it does give the car the edge.

I haven't noticed the heatsoak problem but I'm not really sure what it would feel like...I got the V2 off ebay and it came with a heatshield but I wasn't sure how to fit it;

Does anyone have a picture of a V2 with a heatshield fitted??

Thanks

It just rests on tht cable to the bottom left of the filter in that pic! have I fitted something wrong ?

It might just need some fine tuning. You should be able to move the system by rotating the proximal end which is connected to the throttle body/intake manifold.

Hmmmm only thing is the filter end is bolted down so there's not much chance of movement! I'll have another play tommorow ! Maybe I could bend the bracket ! I bought it second hand ! Thanks for your reply

Mine also rests on a piece of metal, I think it is to do with the gears and when changing gears sometimes it is clunky now

I'm saving for a Gruppe M, this will do me for a bit but in the hot weather the heatsoak is noticeable.

Does anyone know who can still supply these? CPL Racing and JDM Performance have them listed, are there any other suppliers? Most of the ones from the original O/P don't supply / trade any more.

Don't think it's realy worth it mate. The filter gets a lot of air, there's vents underneath it in the arch lining too.

I just got my long ram AEM 21-506 installed into a 2002 Integra DC5.

Fitment and quality of the parts were not as good as i expected. I did not like the fact that i had to remove cooling ducts for left hand side Brembos. I also think that the filter is quite much exposed for water and debris. The brake cooling duct vent in the bumper had to be blocked to prevent filter getting water from the intake. The replacement washer fluid reservoir did not fit 100% and neither did the filling tube for it.

I think the sound was improved. It is actually quite silent before 4000rpm, then it starts to get louder and after the VTEC it sounds mean. I also noticed a improvement in the mid- range, in power and torque.

+Sound
+Performance in the mid- range

-Quality of the parts / fitment
-Removes the left hand side Brembo cooling duct
-Filter exposed to moisture and debris
-Wheel arch liners had to be cut
