Hi all, I am giving serious thought about getting another Type R -havent owner one since 2016 (EP3). I found the following one on autotrader and it looks like it has a type r owners sticker in the rear window - so wondered if anyone on here recognised it or knew the owner, just to try and learn...

If it hasn’t been reported by insurance then will it show up on a HPI report? Just wondering for future how you are supposed to spot the dodgy ones if they haven’t been declared?

I wonder if it is worth me firing off an email to the seller to make him aware - at least that way he can mention it in the advert etc?

How can they pay out for the car (as damage was over £14k) and it not be reported by the insurers?

Just scouring Autotrader and found this FK2 - very low mileage and seems well priced (to my eyes). Thoughts anyone? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202003178528359 Seems to have a couple of mods under the bonnet, but nothing major.

Anyone care to share some thoughts on this FN2? It is slightly older than what I was looking at ideally, but it seems like good value - looks straight enough in the pics...

my ep3 is on 85k miles now and i reckon the clutch only has a few thousand miles left, so thought i would get some prices on a replacement. Best price I have so far is £426 fitted inc. vat. that is with an exedy clutch. good price or too much? another place (F1) wanted £660 for the same job...

i got offered £3k straight off the bat from VW when looking at a £12k FN2 a little while ago. 2005 plate with 80k

since buying my ep3 in november 2010 the arse end fell out of the price of them, but recently they seem to be fetching a bit more value (or at least people are generally asking for more money). anyone else noticed/think the prices are starting to creep back up slightly?

Is this a "real" type r colour? If so, how many were made in this colour? I wasn't aware of it as an option colour, nor ever seen one before in this colour...

think my civic may be due a new rear left caliper - i can't seem to find too much via a google search on how much these are etc or where best to buy from. any ideas on potential cost of a new rear caliper and how many hours a garage should take to fit etc? thanks

anyone know the actual length of the front wiper blades on an ep3? looking on ebay and the blades range in packs from 24"/16", 24"/15" or 21"/19" etc.

well, during the big frost last week, the rubber on my passenger side wiper stuck to the ice, the wiper went up and thus ripped the rubber clean off, so now need a new pair of front wipers. any recommendations? halfords want something close to £20 for a set, is this really the going rate? any...

think i need some rear discs and pads fitted - best i have been quoted so far is £165, which i think is a tad too high. will just buy the bits myself and ask my friendly local garage to fit them for me (hours labour should cover it shouldn't it?

yes it is an 05 ep3. might take the battery back then and ask them if i can swap it for a new one and give that a go. have been told the starter motor is a bit of a bugger to get to, so hope i don't need a new one etc

over the past week of so the civic has been getting slightly worse at starting in the morning. initial thought was the battery, but i don't think it is - the green indicator is still showing on it and when putting a multi meter on it, it still pulls what it should be. the car does start first...

in a nice(ish) part of kent, i think it was just tesco taking the ****. although i was aware that they are quite hard to insure at a decent price. i am with greenlight at the moment, but i don't think they cover S2000's.

did you swap the entire kit over, or just replace the ballests?

that's the plan - if i do need to replace the ballast, and any similar ballast will do, then i will just try and source a pair of ballast's and change both. if i can't use any other ballast and it has to be from the same kit etc then i will buy a new kit and change it all over.

another question, will any ballast (35w) effectively be able to "plug and play" with the wires i have now? say i can't locate the same ballast as i have now and they need replacing, can i just use any 35w similar ballast and plug the wires in and it should all be fine?

i think mine are 8000k too as the give off a blue light rather than a white one. i took the bulb out the passenger side and i could only see "H1" written on it and not the colour temperature of it.

is there any chance that a knackered battery could be causing this issue?

they were already on the car when i bought it, so i don't have a clue i am afraid. i will have a look at the weekend see if i can work out how to change the ballasts etc. any tips/guidance?

i am no good at this type of thing, so will try and give it a go. if the fault does follow, what will be the next course of action? can you buy just new ballasts?

had a funny week of so with my HID's, and now it appears the drivers side one has changed colour from a blue tint to just plain white. the passenger one is still the bluey colour drivers side one passenger any ideas why this has happened? they were both 100% the same colour up until...

there is a "green" indicator on the battery, that would appear to suggest the battery is fine. i will try and dig out the receipt and take it back and swap it for a new one.

whats the best way of checking if the starter motor is on it's way out? literally overnight my ep3 has started to struggle a little with starting up. after a run, if you switch off and then start up again it starts up fine, but if left for any amount of time it takes just a bit longer to kick...
