Loxy you arse. This is the reason i'm not test driving one. I know i'll want one.

I know i won't use it enough but i don't have kids or a wife & i can't afford the sort of house i want so i'm partially thinking why not?

Delivery times aren't an issue as i can't drive in the last 3 months of the year anyway.

I wonder what insurance would be in London!

Personal Loan over 5 years on £28k would be 4.85% and the interest charge only 3.5k.

FCUK more tempting.

Edit - Nationwide 25k loan and i pay back only 2.5k in interest over 5 years and a lower monthly repayment by £70

Unless I'm missing something, why not get a loan at the end of the three years PCP for the £15K? If you want to keep it, then you've got a few more years to pay it off (but then a loan to buy now would be over 5 years for a decent monthly payment figure anyway).

If you don't want to keep the car, sell it privately for more than the £15K - it'll surely be worth at least £20k in three years, seeing as M200s are still £14k. You can pay the loan off and have £5k in your pocket, rather than give it back to the finance company.

I've always had loans, so the car is mine after a maximum of three years, but the above would work for me to be honest.

If you get the car on PCP, you can't sell it as it isn't yours. So at the end you would either hand it back and walk away with nothing, buy it for the GFV figure or part ex the difference of the GFV and the part-ex price of the car against another car with Honda. The latter is the only way you can walk away with any sort of money back, unless you get a loan for the GFV but the car and then sell it immediately.

Yeah that was my thinking Loxy - loan to get it out of Honda, then sell for a profit over the GFV.

I'd hope to be in a position to pay the £15k outright in 3 years, but a loan as a fall back is ok, if I was selling straight away.
 
I may move to the UK for a proper car scene.

With Irelands love of Old mk1 an mk2 escorts, with rally arches, 10 inch wide wheels, full on rally spec. Id say Ireland has a proper car scene. I've also seen quite a few old Corolla's over there as well
 
Maybe comparing it directly against a pretty well sorted Evo IX wasn't fair but it just didn't do enough for me to want me to spend that kind of money. The M135i was a different story. Perhaps I'm turning into a RWD whore.

Absolutely, I couldn't justify the money on it but enjoyed the time that I had in it. My point was more that it would be interesting to see how it compared to the Type R; as although the Honda is expensive, it's a bargain when compared to the A45.

The A45 did feel quite a bit slower than your old Evo which was surprising - I know that the Evo had a fair bit more power and torque, but it was also 5 up when we went out in it. That being said, the power delivery in the A45 was quite smooth, and you could barely notice the turbo coming on. May have been that the sense of occasion when the boost kicked in was greater in the Evo.
 
I remember that drive in the Evo. It wasn't a slow car that's for sure. :lol:

I see your point though, but I don't think the sort of person looking to buy an A45 AMG would consider a Civic Type R and visa versa.
 
I'm visiting number two brother in Shoreham today and have just been to Brighton Honda, they have a Milano Red FK2 in the showroom. Now I've seen one in the metal I've changed my mind, It looks fantastic, even my brother was impressed and he's not into hot hatches.

Only thing with me regarding the cost of this civic is for 20k or thereabouts you could have a pukka 911 or E92 M3 which is probably rather rather have at the moment. When this civic starts popping up in the used market maybe then I'll take a proper look at it.

Which is all well and good, but then you have V8 M3 and 911 running costs which made my eyes water when I looked into them... after selling my Evo.

Few and far between and across the other side of the country. It's also a dated scene. Our insurance companies will no longer quote on high performance jap imports as new business. Some even cancel your policy if you try to transfer on to such a car. Main insurers will also now not quote on cars that are 15 to 20 years old leaving some impossible to insure as they're not all seen as classic. Even if they were, you need to have a main daily policy before you can take out a classic policy. Then that policy gives shitty coverage and you have restricted mileage.
 
Really!? Yea that's a point. That's the one thing putting me off the m3. Are they really that bad? Must be bad if it made you wince, especially coming from an Evo where you're used to uber high running costs!

We have actually just announced pricing for the Type R this week, and the car is now available for ordering from Dealers nationwide. Supply of the car is limited and so we will be concentrating on fulfilling customer orders over the next few months before we will have demonstrator or launch cars available.

Pricing for the vehicle starts from €48,750, with the additional option of the GT Pack for €2,200.

At current exchange rates, if it's including vat and registration, it's a saving of near 3k on a like for like model in the UK.

In a world where twin-scroll and variable geometry turbos are increasingly common, the mono-scroll turbo fitted to the Type R’s bespoke 2.0-litre seems outmoded. To get round this, Honda has cunningly repurposed its VTEC variable valve timing and lift technology to increase the exhaust pressure at low rpm to reduce lag, and fitted an electronically controlled wastegate to manage induction pressure. With aluminium pistons, aluminium rocker arms, forged conrods and a lightweight crankshaft, the result is an engine that loves to rev – even if the 7000rpm redline is not Honda’s loudest screamer.
