Hey guys im new to the site but ive had my ep3 project for over 2 years now, bought her completely standard and after driving her for 4 months the engine failed in number 2 piston so i decided to go all out and build it up. The project is still only half way finished but with any luck ill have her on the track in no time!
The engine is a fully forged 2.5 N/A build buy dmf performance to be capable of 330bhp+ as you can see i have 2 sets of wheels for the car right now.. my slammed out gtr show wheels (ready for paint) and the standard R wheels for everyday use.
Right now im currently overhauling the wishbones, polybushes, buddyclub roll centre adjusters, porsche brakes, brembo discs etc to sharpen up the handling a bit. Apart from the engine all work done on freezing cold days on my drive (as every build should!)

Yeah sorry to say mate DMF have a quite frankly horrific reputation when it comes to engine building.
 
i went for a more bombproof reliable choise rather than there fragile race engines but only time will tell in this case..

(i think :s) im using my local jap garage for the last bits and peices harv the guy used to work for spoon before they moved so its in good hands! yeah andr345 the brakes were soooooo close to being a straight bolt on but to play it safe i have fabricated brackets so they sit 100% perfect but a few cm higher... there SOOO much lighter than the dc5 versions ***!

No offence mate, the guy is a complete cowboy and has blown up many engines over the years.
 
Everywhere seems to carry total horror stories about DMF engines, fingers crossed yours doesn't spit its guts up. Im curious as to why you'd build up such an engine then use 20inch wheels (even just for show) on the car?
 
No the guy at the garage i use now used to work for spoon... (garage bonzai) i went to school with him and hes a top lad, mainly builds drag cars so as soon as its on all 4's ill take it down and have him give it the once over to be safe.
Jury is still out on the gtr wheels.. i like and aggressive look when there slammed out for shows but yes i would ideally i would like some smaller (just as wide) wheels to run all the time and keep my white ones for the track, any ideas guys? not a fan of rotas as im a tad bit of a brand whore!

failing that engine i could always run my other one!!! haha

I too was considering in the summer to go to DMF for my turbo set-up, funnily I was thinking of doing the same as you 2.5 forged engine. But glad i didn't when i heard the customer feedback was bad.

As I've seen this car on a daily basis parked up

In fact it's part of the reason I got my ep3
 
Ha ha yes dude thats me!! You will be glad to know the gtr wheels have gone and been replaced by a set of bronze 17x8.5 volks ce28n's, just in the process of putting some new tyres on them. (pop pictures up later)
Ha the last pic was a laugh, i had some parts left over from a mustang engine in my garage so in my spare time was building it for a future drift car and while i had no engine in the type r i thought "i wonder if it fits"... as you do! its a 454cui bb ford engine with gt500 intake and 1800cfm 8 pack carbs.... oh and stage 6 nos!
 
Empty engine bay and a big ford block was a recipe for it getting shoehorned in!

I'll keep an eye out or your new wheels
