Jermal's DC5... Now Dat C250 AMG

Gutted. Thats going to be a pain in the ass to sort out. I'm guessing re-move the headlight and try and shake the bulbs out via the fixing holes??

Spot on chap. Unfortunately to remove the lights you've got to take the bumper off too. Getting to the last nut on the lights is still not easy even with the bumper off. Should be fun.

Oh Dear Tone...mind you it shouldn't be to hard,if you go at it with an open mind you'll be fine :p

Your Touch up stick is here by the way, Championship Cream ;)

I finally got around to removing my bumper and headlights to free my LED sidelights which had fallen out of the connectors and into the lights. After doing a spot of research on the DC5 forum it appeared that I had a fair bit of work ahead of me, however I was given an initial false sense of security as the bumper was actually very easy to remove.

Taking the light off was not so easy unfortunately. I knew where the bolts were and I knew one of them was difficult to get to, but just how difficult was not apparent until I got the bonnet off. Turns out my extension on my ratchet set was not long enough, so I had to quickly nip down to B&Q and pick up a new ratchet set to get to the last bolt . When I was trying to get to the last bolt, I had to remove some round thing that appears to be connected to my HID's ballast. I thought it could have something to do with the airbag sensor, so I was very carefull when taking it off. Anyone know what it is?

Anyway, once my light was off, I gave it a bit of a shake and my lost LED's appeared! woot woot! When I put them back in the side lights however they blew the fuse as the body is metal and it was touching the contacts. I decided to wrap some electrical tape around the body of the LED so there was only minimal contact between the LED and the light holder. This solved the problem after testing it with a borrowed fuse from the hazzard lights . The LED's look much better and compliment the HID's nicely.

As the bumper was off, I took this oppurtunity to slap on a mesh grille infront of the radiator to hopefully prevent any stones flicking up and smashing through the rad.

Fitting was very easy, it was just a bit time consuming cutting the mesh. I attached the mesh where I could using tag ties and fortunately there is enough points to make it a nice snug fit:

As the bonnet was up, I also took the oppurtunity to take some snaps of some stuff I've aquired in recent months.

looks like the horn

There's one either side though?

Double horn action. Nice.

Anyway, I wasn't sure what it was and didn't want my airbags to go off if I pressed it too hard, so I was probably a little bit too delicate with my horn. lol.

yes there is two on the ep3 under the front number plate

They are on facelifts, they are located elsewhere on pre facelifts.

Good work with the meshing of the grill, one of the best self help mods you can do, and also saves you £££ should you be unfortunate enough to have a stone go through your radiator.

It had been sitting in the boot for a couple of weeks and I thought if I don't pull my finger out and sort it, it would be sods law that something would happen and my rad would blow.

I went for black mesh as it's very subtle and you only really notice it if you're actively looking for it. In other words, it's not very max powah!

I used black on mine to, looks much better. It just fills up with leaves now though so make sure you keep an eye on it.

Got around to doing the Fog light mod today. My fog light had been put into the offside reverse light, but it was a crappy LED one and not very bright at all. As it's coming up to MOT time I had to sort this out as the chap who is going to MOT it (friend of the family) said it would fail if it wasn't bright enough. Followed the guide on here and it was really easy. The results are as follows.

Normal lights/sidelights:

I tried to have it so all four back lights where brake lights and one would be a fog light when switched on, but the brake lights either side are linked somewhere, meaning that when the fog light would come on, all of the lights would come on. As I couldn't be arsed to find out where they all joined up, I settled for the above. I personally think it still looks good, especially now I have two reverse lights.

No need to find the joint just use a diode (this only allows electric to flow in one direction) to link the brake lights to the foglights, by doing this all 4 lights will work on the brakes but only 2 will work on the fog lights. Will cost you less than a £1 and take 5 minutes to fit;)

What sort of diode would I need?

just a normal diode get them in maplins try to get a bigger rated one for about 10k sure it will be fine, you could use a 12v led as the is a light emitting diode. You can get 4 in halfords for £5 but that would mean your boot would also light up when you pressed the brakes
