More power on a sport?

Hi guys quick question I have a 2004 civic sport ep2 and was wondering whats the best thing to get to gain some more power??
Also was wondering if anyone here has a EP2 and has modded theirs.
Any comments are welcome thanks :)

if i recall theres a guy in the other popular forum that has a ep2 sport and went nuts on his with tuning etc,

think his name was type r replica or something along those lines,he has many threads detailing the build etc,

im sure someone on here will know the guy im on about?

tbh, you'll struggle to get any sort of decent power out of an EP2. It's hard enough doing it with an EP3. Plus if insurance is that much of a killer, modding your car isn't going to help.

Yeah i guess so. I was thinking on getting a cat back just to make it sound a bit better and give it a little bit more power.
Could you recommend any good ones??

don't do it, waste of money. It won't make it any quicker, your insurance will go up, it will sound like a boy racer and people will probably think your an idiot when they see an aftermarket exhaust on a sport.

get an aftermarket exhaust for a car which can make use of one

just find out what the difference is between what your car is worth against a decent second hand type-r plus insurance premiums and start saving up

You've already got your exhaust money in the pot :D

I modded mine with an AEM cold air kit, bigger manifold and Magnex catback, did nothing for gains but looked nice.

Thanks for the advice looks like there is really no point in starting my modding streak on this car then lol. I had a look on insurance for a type r and it was nearly 3000!! My re-newal is due in may will it be alot lower then as i will be 21 and have 2 years NCB??
oh one more thing are there ok as a family car as iv got a little on on the way? Thanks again

I found that my insurance very slowly came down year on year. No big drops when 21 / 25 / 30 etc etc That was my experience anyway.

Everytime I have expected an insurance drop I have bought a higher group car to balance this offset!

TO the OP. How old are you and what is your insurance situation (NCB etc).

There are people on here who are quite young and can afford to pay for insurance without paying through the teeth for it (well too much anyway). When I was 21 for example, it cost me just over a grand to insure an EP3. Have you tried any specialist brokers yet, rather than just a generic compare insurance site? You might have a pleasant surprise.

very true, unless the op has previous drink drive or similar 3k seems way over budget to me:evil:

I say go for it we all gotta start somewhere and i wouldnt say people will think you look an idiot with an exhaust lol as long as its a sensible one etc it will be fine imo

Not a bad idea Jermal thanks. I was planning on waiting untill i turned 21 to start looking at a new car for me. And yes I was never planning on putting a massive bean can on the back that sounds like an evo. just a better flowing exhaust.
Im not sure but i think my friend has just bought a new Type r. I look forward to taking it for a test drive LOL:)

They must not be too bad to insure one of my friends is insuring his one for sensible money and he is 21

Alright mate. I have an ep2 as well and from some posts that i have put up here and speaking to people there is not much that you can do to the sports.

All that i have done just now to the ep2 is put a cat back custom exhaust (sounds great in vtec) and i will be putting on a set of HIDs as well soon. And have a full sound system in the car.

Let us know how you get on with things.

With regards to the kids, i have a set of twins and they fit in the car no problem with a twin sub box and two amps in the boot. so no need to upgrade. But good luck when the wee one comes mate.

Where are you anyway (somone PMd me asking me that and they never got back to me.)
