Oil questions and recommendations here

We don't agree with the use of any aftermarket oil additives (except LSD friction modifiers, which don't affect your car). Most of the time they are just a waste of money, but some cause harmful effects as well. Modern reputable oil manufacturers put everything that is needed into their oils, adding something else is likely to mess up their formula meaning the oil won't protect as well as it should.

Hi,

I usually use Millers CFS - 5W-40W but i had ordered the wrong topup and have got Millers XFS - 5W-40W will this be ok to topup with, or is it not advisable to mix the oil?

Thanks in advance
Craig

Just bought Mobil 1 ESP Formula Fully Synthetic 5W-30 for my ep3. It was pretty expensive. What do you think of this oil? Its my first time buying oil.
Also, is it ok mixing two different types of oil? I dont know what type the previous owner used

It's good oil, but not really what I would pick for an ep3, especially if you like to put your foot down as you may find the car burns a drop of it. A 5w-40 is a better choice. It's fine to mix it with what's already in there.

Cheers

Tim

cheers, also how often does the oil need to be changed? and how often do you check you oil level, every 2/3 weeks?

Usually it's 10000 miles or annually for changes and yes, checking every 2/3 weeks is okay.

Cheers

Hi
my ep3 is on VR1 10w60 at this time, would you suggest different oil for Poland climate? i will not lie, i put foot down a lot :)

10w-60 is too thick, it won't protect properly. Go for a good 5w-40, it might burn some, but will protect better.

of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS,
Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess,
Millers XFS, Shell Helix, Fuchs Supersyn and Mobil Super 3000 are
good, cheaper alternatives.

Just been to local motor factors and he has given me 10w - 40 millers Championship oil would It be ok to put this in the type r engine ?

Cheers

Dave

Is that the Millers CFS? All of the Millers full synthetic 5w-40s or 10w-40s will be okay. CFS is the best, then XFS, but I'd go with a 5w-40 over 10w-40 for cold start protection.

Cheers

Tim

Yeah its the CFS oil , ill have to change it then as the cold weather is coming now dont want to knack the engine lol

Cheers for the help
Dave

Any fully synthetic 5w40 or even semi synthetic and reduce your service schedule = better protection.
