Ste's Bronze FN2 **Car sold and gone**

Ordered a gp splitter pack for the car new from honda, already painted in the correct colour, look forward to fitting it.

Also got myself another set of oem 18 wheels for track use.
Need refurbing but already started to get on with it!

Somebody's shoddy attempt of a paint job!

Getting refurbed

Unsure what colour to go for yet!

Dust shields removed and new pads fitted (pfc 08)

Massive difference and very impressed with the feel and bite from them, haven't got them to fade yet on road so we I'll see how the track day goes!

Looking good mate.

If you dont mind me asking how much are the gt splitter kits? I'm currently after an fn2 type R and if i cant get one with them already fitted im wondering what it would cost to buy and fit myself.

Brand new they are silly money.
£340 for the front and £345 for the rear.

You also cannot buy them from honda anymore in certain colours, my colour is discontinued! I was lucky enough to find a dealer with these in stock

Got my gp kit but they are for a type S so the colours are wrong :-(
Never mind, I'll get them painted.
I'm thinking a dark metalic grey for the inserts rather than black so it stands out more against the dark bronze

How it is now.....

This Is what I'm thinking....

What about matt grey?

How different is the Type S bronze to the Type R version?

Yeh I've thought about that tbh, but it would need to be a dark grey.

the colour itself is exactly the same, it's just the opposite way around if that makes sense!

Like so....

What on earth where honda thinking!

Wheels dropped off for powder coating!

Hope I've chosen the right colour! If not they'll become the track wheels lol.

I decided to give the car a quick buff today, been meaning to do it since I got the car really, there where a few swirl marks in the paint that where really annoying me. So I braved the cold and did it.

Swirls

All buffed

Looks miles better, cheers to Lee for letting me use his buffer!

Collect my wheels and splitters today. I hope they don't look **** in the colours I've chosen! Otherwise back to the paint shop!

Looks amazing mate. Love what your doing.

Thanks mate :)

So GP kit fitted, I was quite worried I'd chosen the right colour but once fitted I stood back and just thought YES.

My wheels are also done, made up with them! Perfect powder coat finish too ;-)
Excuse the crappy tyres, I'll be leaving them on for the time being as they are all almost new and came with the wheels. They'll of course be getting changed for decent rubber in the future. I'll be keeping the Yokohama A048 on the track wheels.

Pics of wheels fitted (poor pics in crap british weather)

All ready for track day at Anglesey tomorrow, it's going to be a wet one!

Anglesey was a good fun day but I was pretty disappointed, I had issues with tyres that could have been avoided. I'd been complaining how poor the yoko A048 tyres I had on the front where for a while, but I just put it down to the cold wet weather and that they where the medium hard compound so I couldn't get any heat into them on the road.
Once out on track in the morning it was damp, so I just couldn't get any grip so braking was poor as was understeer and wheel spin. As it started to dry out I was becoming aware it should be gripping much better than it was, so I checked the front tyres (pretty bald) and swapped them for the rears (healthy)
And went back out for another lap or so. It was immediately like somebody had put space saver rear wheels on and the car was just a drift machine lol. The braking and front end traction was completely transformed though.
I came in again and put my rear road tyres (ditch finders) on to see how they fared and whilst much better they were still awful compared to the fronts.
So the rest of the day became a bit of a mess around tbh drifting and trying to push the brakes to see how they would cope.

I'll be sourcing a new set of tyres for the next track day so hopefully it won't be an issue again!

Now, on to the brakes. One word sums them up, FAULTLESS.
Granted, I couldn't push them in the morning due to the tyres being shot. But they got plenty of action and the pads look nearly new, the pads are fantastic (performance friction 08 compound) fantastic bite characteristics, great feel and they were not harsh on the discs at all! Whilst the pads are expensive (and the cost of the BBK to remember) it's not a cheap solution but I should get a good few track days out of the pads now so worth while investment and more cost effective in the long run.

I have a few pics and videos that I'll post up as soon as I can.

These are the only pics I have ATM, as the ones I bought on a disc don't seem to be on the disc lol!
The car is filthy due to doing a 2hr drive in typical british weather so ok excuse this!
