FK2 FK2 general discussion

The comments on the Top Gear page are so funny. They haven't got a clue.

One lad put he'd have the RS over the Type R due to its heritage. FLOL.

On another note, how can you compare a car that's made to one that isn't?

First Type R was the NSX, launched in 1992. The first RS badged car was 1969 (although a rally car and not a road car), I kind of get their heritage perspective.

Although i origanally posted Type R I meant Honda.

I believe Hondas knowledge in Motorsports outweighs Fords but that's just my opinion and possibly lack of knowlege of Fords complete products.

As derogatory terms go, I like it. It's become edgy and politically incorrect along with homo, fag and queer. Jew & Jewish were good ones too :(

Insults were better in the 90s.

I just stick with the one about a lady's twinkle cave that begins with a C. I feel it works in most situations.

Ford has a much bigger following, Cosworths/Mexicos/XRs/RSs etc, people love and loved these cars. And it's actually a good community to be a part of, I used to go to the RS owners club held at Brands Hatch and the Ford Fair at Silverstone. Honda has nothing that touches this IMO, it always gets put with Jap as a whole.

So yeah, in terms of "Heritage", Honda ain't got shít y0.

Oh god this is starting to turn into a flamewar. Both cars will be great guys and the RS looks like it might just edge it in all out speed and cornering. This doesn't mean that it will be as fun to drive mind......

Stands to reason...most of the Fords rusted away into nothing, suffered terminal failures or were stolen and subsequently wrapped around lamp posts or torched. They need to cherish the precious few that remain

I think that comes down to the fact that most Honda performance stuff was kept in Japan.
Where as Ford were always big here.

Were you one of the saddos that used to polish their engine with a toothbrush?

I can't stand Cosworths, king of the chavs.
My little nova GSi could keep up with a standard one and all the modded ones broke all the time.
My mate had an RS Turbo lightly modded and my standard Punto GT wasted it, but that was a long time ago.

The new Fords are really nice cars, apart from the lack of steering feel compared to my DC5 the ST was a nice car to drive.

Yeah type R forums fcuking suck.

I'd say there is a very close percentage of other cars owned on this forum compared to Type R owners lol.

No flame war here. No one has said that the Type R is worse, the main issue is the fact the RS is cheaper....it's the Civic's direct competitor IMO. So fair game.

 yeah, but a joy ride in a stolen Ford is always more fun. I would actually go as far as to say that 80% of my school friends all owned a Ford as their first car too, it's odd, people treat the company like it's British.

I don't know, if it's a globally available car then the followings shouldn't really be affected. Honda just hasn't released enough "special" cars or they kept all the good ones in Japan like you said.

I have used a toothbrush to clean my engine bay, but that was down to Jermal's post on here where he used gunk foam.....so it's this forum's fault!

Cosworth's are mental cars, I drove a ~500bhp Saphire and it was properly unnerving. But yeah, I agree lol.
Nova GSi's were right weapons.
Both my close friends had S2 Escort RS turbos, and there's no sodding way a standard Punto 1.4 turbo would've kept up. One of them actually blew a hole in his block chasing my CTR on the motorway

I have a disgruntled friend who would disagree

He had a H reg one. It read H4 PWR and it was a bit of a show queen.
He had a head start as well. The look on his face as I passed him was priceless. I am talking about when my car was 3 years old or so. So I'm sure they've lost power over the years.

The good old days.

So it seems...in the early 90s a family friend had the last of the Sapphire 4x4s as a company car, got stolen 5 times in 3 years. It had a hidden fuel shut-off so you'd come home to find it a couple of hundred yards down the road.
