EP3 Low Mileage Standard Facelift EP3

Spotted this locally - I gather they are getting hard to find like this in mainland UK. If it’s of any interest to anyone here, I’d be happy to inspect/inform/arrange anything to do with buying an Isle of Man car. All the best,

Bizarre shaking issue under hard cornering

The rubber that you press the bearing into is shot, as per the video. Only way to replace that is a new housing or an entire shafting (in more way than one). It appears to be almost unheard of - but even track cars won’t have had the sustained hammer this car has, so I’ll let it off. Typical...

Thanks Mike - though it shows them individually if you look at the numbers there is no separate listing for the housing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bizarre shaking issue under hard cornering

I’m digging up the dead here, I know. But I thought it may help others. I have just found out what caused this problem. Offside intermediate driveshaft support bearing. Looks at the play in that! https://youtu.be/Uz_u5C_VRZ4 The bummer is that it’s not just the bearing but the rubber that’s...

Bizarre shaking issue under hard cornering

I have apready replaced all of the gearbox and engine mounts with updated items in the last few months. But I d have a pair of driveshafts in the garage. But vibration caused by these would surely be much faster and more violent at high speed?

Bizarre shaking issue under hard cornering

They were inspected when they were off he car last week for the top mounts to be done and deemed fine. Does anyone know how the steering rack is mounted? Ie on rubber or solid?

122k . I’m guessing it’s probably worth chucking a set at it regardless now I think of it

Bizarre shaking issue under hard cornering

They are the originals, but ride and handling are otherwise fine. Looked in good nick when top mounts were changed last week. But it has crossed my mind that it could be them, just not come across these symptoms before.

Bizarre shaking issue under hard cornering

Hi folks, I have recently finally managed to cure a long standing and mysterious issue with my FN2. But not quite! I had an issue where the car would shake violently under heavy acceleration mid-to-high revs. I changed all sorts of things, but in the end it ended up being solved by fitting...

    Mantior's DBP FN2 GT

Cheers Loxxy. My commute is all that gets me motivated to go to work everyday, if I moved house closer to work I would probably spontaneously combust. Boom.

    Mantior's DBP FN2 GT

Yodels, So, after owning the car for over a year, I have finally got round to taking some pics of the FN2. And, bizarrely, the only thing I have modified is the gearchange (quickshift) and lights (HIDs) - As this is my daily driver I can't be bothered with noise really. Not like me at all...

Loxy's Plasma Blue WRX STi Saloon

Sounds mint! To be honest this makes me realise what a hero Tony Pond was doing a 102 mph average lap in a huge boat of a Rover 827 (Honda V6 Powaaaah) in 1990. What a boy. He used to live in a house in my village, about 100 yards away. He's been dead nearly 10 years now I think by memory. He...

Loxy's Plasma Blue WRX STi Saloon

He's some boy. I watched him on this lap at my mate's house who lives right on the course, and we saw him clip and fully mount the kerb going around the blind bend there at a horrendous rate of knots, and he sorted it out so quickly you wouldn't even have believed he hit the kerb. Anyway...

Loxy's Plasma Blue WRX STi Saloon

Only just spotted that you have betrayed us with your new purchase Loxxy! Although fair play to you, I've loved those new saloons since a Mr Higgins introduced this one to me - here's a bit of related driving porn: http://youtu.be/a6cFBa17itY

Strange HID problem - knowledge required!

I considered that, but wasn't happy with the difference in light quality. I do use them for longer periods at a time you see, and once they're warm its ok to flick them off for a car coming the other way, they are still good to go few seconds later, as can be seen on mine - it's just that they...

Strange HID problem - knowledge required!

Hola, So I originally bought some dipped beam (H7R) HIDS for my FN2, along with some matching 501 LED sidelights, all hunky dorey. Then, being as anal as I am, I got freakishly annoyed at how main beam looked yellower than a Victorian bedroom lamp next to my bright shiny dipped beams. So I...

FN2 Flatspot? Anyone had the same issue?

Deffo sure it's not the little triangle with an exclamation mark that pops up when you deactivate VSA? Does it still drive ok?

    FN2 Batshnit crazy wipers

Halleluja Loxy! Cheers man- I'll whip mine out and give it a clean, so to speak. And if not, I'll get prepared to have my pants pulled down I'm guessing?

    FN2 Batshnit crazy wipers

Oh please no, not the D-word!! Being stuck on a rock floating in the irish sea, I have the choice of exactly one dealership, and that particular dealership knows less about Hondas than a washing machine with learning difficulties. I'll get on to my local priest then....

Vehicle Stability Assist. Honda's equivalent of stabilisers on your push bike. You're not missing out on anything, don't worry!

FN2 Flatspot? Anyone had the same issue?

Aye, I agree with trying it with VSA off. VSA is such a hinderance to me that I turn it off for every journey. Sometimes I forget and after half a mile think "what's wrong with this thing?" Then realise VSA is on. Reduces responsiveness and also does some crazy voodoo with your brakes if it...

    FN2 Batshnit crazy wipers

G'day. So I have just spend the best part of 2 hours trawling through here and other realms of the t'interweb, and cannot find a definite answer to my question. I have a 2007 FN2 GT. Of recent, the wipers have a complete and utter mind of their own. Symptoms include: -Doing single wipe when...

    Your thoughts

Horses for courses maybe matey? I definitely had more fun bezzing people in something that looks like a Rover than something as obviously racy as my old DC2 or ATRs. Everyone has different opinions and needs after all bud. ;)

    Your thoughts

Sorry, I got a bit lost there lol. What kind of coupe are we talking about here, EM1? Or do you mean the MB6? As we've sussed by now, there's not a great deal of difference in performance between a CH1 and an EP3, I think it's mainly down to each individual's preferences and driving style.

    Your thoughts

Correct, fine if you drive in a straight line all day. When exiting corners, having the correct ratio to drop you in the correct rev range (and being able to produce good power for as long as possible in said ratio) is more important in real life. It's why high revving cars like Type R's can...
  27. mantior

    Your thoughts

An EP3 is quicker in my experience, but not by much. Mainly down to the EP3 having a longer powerband and closer-set gear ratios.

    Affording A Type R

I've only had my FN2 for about 2 weeks now - but considering my commute involves a 1200 foot climb twice a day over winding A roads and some town stop start traffic, I still average about 31 mpg. I often hit 3 figure speeds on the way to work with prolonged periods of VTEC, so I think it's very...

    FN2 Japspeed Quick Shift

Cool beans, how much is a TDi one? I can't seem to find any prices on their website. The metal in that Japspeed one does look cheap, but then I'm not going to be exactly hanging my entire body weight off the bloody thing anyway lol.

    FN2 FN2 Seat height question

 I know tell me about it. All Honda hatches I've ever had have done this, and it's ferking annoying! If I'm dropping people off etc I just sit tight and wait for them to scramble over the other side :D

Is there a way to disable ABS ?

Did you ever get to the bottom of this Rotaryspeed? I need to do the same on mine.
  34. mantior

    Your thoughts

I've owned 2 ATRs and I've just broken up my 5th MB6  ATR is a lovely car to be in and has much nicer steering than the MB6 - although I personally couldn't live with the fact that unless you are quite harsh with the gears (which I'm not) it can often drop out of VTEC between changes. That...

    FN2 FN2 Seat height question

Cheers Loxmeister - you are the Yoda of the FN2 world! (That wasn't a dig at your height by the way) I had a grope on the way home and noticed there was very little clearance - ho hum, I'll manage, would have been nice but not the end of the world. Anyone had any experience with XCARLINK -...

    FN2 FN2 Seat height question

Just getting settled in with my FN2. I like to get my surrounding sorted before I start messing with performance and handling. The one thing I'd like to do is make the driver's seat lower to the floor than the adjustment mechanism lets you. Anyone aware if this is impossible for any crazy...

FN2 Oh the clock is ticking down.....

Cheers Loxy. I was hoping that's the case, think it will be the same here. I don't like having mismatched tyres, but all I need to do in the interim is get it through its test. No I'll definitely be doing front and rear FRS, if it's as noticeable a difference as everyone says I'll be very...

So then...... it's home! Car was exactly as described, and feels looks like a new car to me. Since I've been back on the rock, all it's done is rain, so I haven't taken any pics apart from the grainy ones in the dark from the night I brought her home, I won't bother straining your eyes with...

    FN2 FN2 newbie

I had a very similar debacle to yours magnificent one. I've driven many an EP3 over the years and they are awesome, but I've plumped for an FN2 as I detest body-roll and therefore an FN2 is much closer to my ideal-handling car. But there are plenty of people who will tell you FN2's are horrible...
