FK2 FK2 general discussion

New Civic Type R

Nice one. I'm looking forward to my drive next week.

Maybe I'll be joining you

Actually I won't, not yet - the FD still arouses me !Actually had someone squeal in it yesterday !

I haven't seen a blue one in the flesh, I'm leaning towards the grey colour.

I remember driving to Honda in my Rover 220 coupe 13 odd years ago and test driving a 2002 EP3 , I put a deposit down there and then. I then bought a new 2004 facelift ep3 when they first came out , that was around 17500 back then, so in today's money it won't be far off what they ask for the Latest civic Type R.

lol Now I see why you wanted to know if they did Dark Sports tinted Wind Deflectors for the FK2....... Hmmmmm I get more commission on the new type R ones :D

lol FN2 back to Standard............ Stick some Mugen Badges on it and say it is an Mugen 200 :D

Looks like Climair have updated their site Loxy.

Well I guess you cant have the forum owner not having the very latest type R can you? I hope you got discount for being Type R royalty

I don't think the owner of this forum goes out of their way to crawl up the sphincter of Hondauk, so I doubt that

Loxy, how do these conversations go with Jayne?

"Love I want to change my car, again!"

Yeah Ed, I was thinking Loxy you have a very understanding/cool Wife or else you promised to upgrade your wife's civic to the sport model. As two type-Rs would be rather expensive :D

Fairplay though. :)

Very true!

I have a good relationship with my local dealership but that is about it.

The salesman I've dealt with today doesn't know me from Adam either as he's new at that dealership having just moved from another Honda dealer. I've also been told that there isn't a lot in the new CTR for the dealer, so they make less on them than say a 1.8 Tourer for example.

I took Jayne along today, this was the second test drive for me, first for her.

She is, yes, very understanding.

I've spoken to the dealer this morning and told them that unfortunately I'm going to leave it for 12 months, but I will be back to get one.

You didn't even last 12 days, Loxy your will power is absolutely shocking    but fair play.

Also what one did you choose:

Sensible head on, the figures don't add up for me. It's either a ridiculous sum per month or a smaller sum over a ridiculous term.

Que Sera

When are you expecting delivery John? Presume no chance of getting it before JAE?

I know.

Ridiculous term.

If I had of placed the order today it would have been November. I've said I'll get the mods off the car first then take it back to them.

They'll take the car as soon as it's standard.

My work mate is interested in updating his fn2 to a Cw, could mention it to him if it helps, he may have it modded

Good work Loxinator.

Approaching halfway point in my degree, pending interview results from Crown Casino I may be increasing my spending pennies by $400 per week... Just WISH Hooondhuur moved their ass and launched the AUDM Type R..

Please do bud. I've listed it with and without mods. If it doesn't sell it'll go to Honda.

How would you say the handling compared to your FD2 loxy?

I posted this on another forum.

Loxy said:
The FK2 is a hatch and the FD2 is a saloon and the FD2 feels like one on the road, feeling big, light but big.

The FD2 really does feel like it came out a decade ago in comparison of chassis dynamics, trim and build quality.

The main thing that has stuck with me with the FK2 is just how well it handled the power and in letting the LSD work through the corners without torque steer affecting the line of the car. With an FD2 you have to be very flowing to get the most out of it, but you can be aggressive on the throttle with the FK2 and it will just lap it up and pin you through the bend.

The ride on the FD2 is very stiff on the road. I had coilovers on mine and had them set to pretty soft by the end.

The FK2 with the adaptive dampers and not in +R mode to me feels very complaint and easy to live with daily without compromising the capability of the handling. You couldn't say the same of the FD2 without going to something like Ohlins or other similar high quality suspension components.

The FD2 feels tinny and buzzy to drive. The FK2 feels solid and more throaty in the drive.

Both every good cars in their own right, but completely different at the same time and I've probably been a bit harsh on the FD2. However the FK2 was so much better than I thought it was going to be but I've only driven it for half an hour. The FD2 I owned for 6ish months and didn't live up to the expectations I had built up for it and so left me feeling a bit disappointed being honest.
