Thanks Chris. Can anybody confirm that with a Hondata the Fuel Pressure Regulator Vacuum hose should be fitted? I'm convinced this is the cause of the failure and therefore may have some come back. The fuelling would have been severly effected making the engine run lean. The pipe the vacuum...

A friend of a friend owns a DC5 and has recently popped the engine. It shed a piston ring and smashed the spark plug on No.2 cylinder, possibly damaging the valves seats in the process! Can anybody confirm that with a Hondata the vacuum hose to the Fuel Pressure Regulator should still be...

Good review Paul. My EVO has given me more grief so have given the FN2 some consideration but my Mrs hates it, so much so that she wants me to keep the EVO. It got taken away on the back of an AA truck this afternoon as it won't fire up. S2000, hmmmm:-k

Why? Its true, you don't need it and why did they offer it on the Type R in the first place? Type R and Aircon in the same sentence doesn't add up :roll:

I loved my CTR but I wouldn't swap my EVO for one. :lol: I only miss the slick gear box and electric heated mirrors.

I disagree. PIAA blades coat the windscreen with a silicon coating that beads the water. The silicon coating is invisible to the eye and doesn't affect visibilty. In my opinion they are worth the money. It saves applying RainX routinely. I swear by them. ABP sell them, you may get a forum...

There not mandatory mate but adviseable. Without them, you'll just get whatever camber the Springs give you which could be way out due to the fact the car is lowered 20mm about a fixed point. My tyres wore evenly throughtout before fitting the Springs so the camber and tracking must have been...

Being meticulous when it comes to servicing comes in at a price. The only thing that fecks me off is they charge you for screenwash when I know full well it was full to the brim :twisted: It is a different colour so they must drain it out and fill it back up again :roll:

50,000 mile service performed yesturday at a cost of £500. :shock: I did request a few extra things done, like gearbox oil and brake fluid changing. I also needed new Brake Pads all round (Thanks to Silverstone) Thats the most expensive service I've ever experienced. They didn't even...

Had my Spoon Springs and JDM ARB fitted today along with the camber adjuster bolts. Big Thumbs up to Tom @ TGM and his crew for doing a fantastic job. Unfortunately wet roads and worn out Potenza's meant I couldn't experiment :twisted:

I'm signed up for Brands so beware, as PReddy knows, I tend to spin on cold tyres :shock: I was at TGM today and noticed the HOT advertisement notice board. Its coming along nicely. Keep up the good work Steve & Sara. :wink:

Excellent, if my engine goes pop, I'll be sure to dig up this thread as evidence that Honda admit they had a problem with the oil pump. By changing the design is as good as admitting there was a problem in my book!

Turned out to be a loose bolt on the airbox causing the rattle :shock: Spoon system is fine and dandy :D

As Spencer says, we were crusing at 130mph+ with spurts to 145 and back down again. As soon as the Autobahn was clear ahead, it was full throttle until we caught up with traffic :wink:

Well, I got under the car this afternoon and all heat shield are solid. Nothing loose there. I only hear it when the window is down and the music turned off. I never give the manifold a thought, but being standard I have discounted that :? Serivce is due soon, so I'll get them to have a look...

I got this at a good price mate, so not that bothered.

Overtime burning a hole in my pocket, and dont fancy an Induction Kit so I got this instead... I know its expensive for what it is, and doesn't give the sort of gains Inductions do, but I want to keep my stock airbox so this seemed ideal, plus I'm a Spoon whore :wink:

I hope your wrong in this instance mate. I'm just assuming that its covered by warranty, as its less than a year old. I'll have to dig out the paper work as I'm sure I was told when fitted that is covered by a years warranty.

Sweet, I'm hoping mine is just a heat shield, although my Spoon is still under warrenty :wink: Was it just a case of tightening it up?

I've got a little rattle developed, now I'm not sure if its the baffles in the exhaust or whether its a heat shield come loose. I need to get under my car and take a look. Has any other Spoon owner noticed this? Has anyone had their Spoon exhaust baffles go?

Not quite the same but I got pulled for speeding. The Copper comented that it was the exhaust note (Spoon N1 and B-Pipe) that attracted his attention. That was all he said on the matter, no checks on noise limits etc, just a bollocking for speeding :wink:

Doing 145mph on the Autobahns I found that the CTR was very stable and well planted. I thought that the standard bodykit was aerodynamically designed :? Made a loud whistling noise though which I presume was the wiper blades as they started lifting :wink:

Why do Honda change the style of the letter R on each Type R carnation? The EP3 and DC5 Type R is a different R to the DC2 and EK9 Type R. The New Gen Civic Type R has yet again a different font R. Fecks me off :twisted:

Considering it has the same engine as the outgoing model, torsion bar rear suspension, and looks like it has gained weight, I cant see it having any improvement performance wise over the outgoing model. I sincerly hope I'm proven to be wrong. I am growing to like the shape mind :shock:

I had a Janspeed system on my Saxo and it too was shite. The back box baffles went in about 8 months. It came with a lifetime warrenty which wasn't worth a shite, as they went into recievership. They offered me a replacement at 50% cost, so I told them to poke their offer I'll go for a reputable...

Would you need the JDM Anti-roll bar if you fit a DC5 Manifold? I'm liking the idea of this one. :wink:

If its based on the shape currently available in the UK (i.e. not the Si version) then its going to have torsion bar suspension. So thats my mind made up then. My next car will probably don the STi badge :wink:

Don't worry Paul, it goes no where near the top. It only expands by about 2 inch at the most. The manual states the level should be between the MIN and MAX when cold. I just interpret that to mean fill to the MAX. :wink:

Which is why you check the level on a cold engine mate :wink: I should have made myself a bit clearer. Mine is topped upto the MAX when cold.

I top mine up to max and keep it there. The reason being, more inventory should a minor leak develop. :wink:

I went down to the dealer and asked to buy some antifreeze and brake fluid to use as top ups when required. They said 'Why buy it, just bring it down and we'll top it up' :shock: I told them I want to buy some anyway to keep just in case, so they sold me 5 litres of antifreeze and gave me 2...

I think you've hit the nail on the head. The Astra VXR is a good example of this. Give it huge power, but give it a chassis that cant take it :roll: Hopefully Honda will sharpen the chassis and kick ass against its rivals even with a power defecit of 20bhp :wink:
