It will vary between insurers but for us, Channel Islands, Cornwall, Northern Scotland low risk. Bradford, Manchester, Liverpool high risk.

Manchester is a very high risk area for car insurance, let alone performance/modified car insurance. Comparable to some Southern postcodes through.

The prices represent the risk. I'd say £2900 is cheap for a 21 year old with no NCB in Manchester.

I blame the industry to be honest, the industry facilitates the illegal claimers. It's one big merry go round, although I don't find it overly merry.

Absolutely, it's fantastic for those shopping around. Price is key. If you want to get the truly best price from an insurer (via a broker), do not tell them what you've had as your best rate. Some insurers just cant cope with this.

I agree with you but it cannot be used an an excuse for fraudulently insuring your car incorrectly. Many import cars are registered incorrectly, eg type in a registration number for an MR2 turbo, you find it's registered as a Rav 4. It is down to YOU to make sure the car is insured correctty...

The DC5 is not on 99.9% of UK insurer's systems. The thing is, people just insure (incorrectly) off the reg number and think they are insured, in reality they are not. An internet site is not going to ask you is it a DC2 or DC5, a specialist insurer most likely would.

It varies wildly depending on who you insure with. Some insurers do not even allow alloy wheel changes, some charge £hundreds for an alloy wheel change, some charge an admin fee and a small load, some just an admin fee, some insurers (THE SENSIBLE ONES) will not charge for an alloy wheel change.
