Very nice!! Looks like Stuart Graham Honda. They are a good dealership

    FK2 FK2 general discussion

Probably 3 or 4 in today's heat. The track temp would have been super high. bit of a waste tbh putting a super soft road tyre on a hot track not sure what else they expected tbh. the pads must be pretty **** then to kill those, brakes that big should be able to handle the abuse better.

    Nitron coilovers

I did indeed mate. That was Mark who races in the Vtec Challenge that ordered the 2 way but got sent the 3 ways, bonus!:D They are epic shocks, really well made, light weight and you can carry stupid amounts of corner speed on track with them.:D
  4. hovblackctr

    DC5 Trackcar

18k with a dmf engine, lol he's probably too scared d to drive it for fearing it will blow up!
  5. hovblackctr

    TypeRiter's DC5

I think that looks spot on as it is Sun, nice aggressive rake! Maybe drop the rear 5mm or so but i wouldn't go too far on the rear. Wheels are looking epic dude!:)

A quiet exhaust to pass track day limits

Fuji RM01 with race header passes track day noise limits, it's a very quiet exhaust. A bung on your current setup might work but you will definately lose some power.

Upgrades / Mods I am wanting to do... advice if its a good idea or not?

Upgrades / Mods I am wanting to do... advice if its a good idea or not?

I would go for the SuperPro bush kit and make sure you get the one with the front control arm castor increase bushes, these make a huge difference. Don't bother with any strut braces/tie bars these are just bling and don't actually do anything. Spend the money on a proper geometry setup...

    Caliper upgrade advice

Standard brakes tend to last about 10 minutes on track before they overheat and give up. Then you have to wait for them to cool down again. The Spoons should work well but you can only use oem sized discs & pads so will fade eventually on track but could be a good compromise for road/bit of...

K20 FTW.. Essentially, more JDM than a Tsunami

Bloody hell mate you are cracking on with this aren't you!:cool: Some awesome mods on it, lovin the J's stuff. It will be loud as fcuk though!:p I reckon 125 - 130db!:lol: My black one on start up with Kpro used to wake the whole street up at 7.30am, that had a Toda and full...

    Caliper upgrade advice

I've had Stoptech & Spoon on my EP3. Either will work fine for a supercharged car on the road, i would go Stoptech if you are thinking of going on track. As James said they work on the crx well but remember that only weighs 850kg tops, your FN2 is closer to 1300kg i would have thought.
  14. hovblackctr

    Lightweight Battery

I had the Odyssey in my track ep3. It runs down very quickly if you leave the car standing for a few weeks. It had enough juice to start when used regularly but i wouldn't recommend it for a road going car in winter.

    TDi North's 2011 Challenger

Euro road trip!:) Assen & Zandvoort are epic tracks, especially Assen even though it's been watered down a bit. What are Dave's/TDI's view on it? If it was me i would be going to Holland. How about doing a one hit wonder @ Oulton just to see what the tyres are like or doing a track day...
  21. hovblackctr

    TDi North's 2011 Challenger

I don't think they will ever go back to R888's now Toyo have pulled out of motorsport. I've just read a 25 page epic thread on the mlr about the tyre situation. Imagine running these Pireli's on a day like we had a Brands last year, they will literally melt after a couple of laps with road...

    polybush bushes

Is it the Super Pro kit you are looking at mate? Tbh the main ones on the ep3 to change are front control arm, anti roll bar and lca's
  27. hovblackctr

    215/45/17 on ep3

There's only 4mm in sidewall height difference between 215/45 and oem tyres. Not really noticeable, i use 215/45 on track and they are spot on.:D
  28. hovblackctr

    TDi North's 2011 Challenger

I managed to pick up a cheap set of R888's off ebay Sean, still looking for a set of wheels though if you decide to sell the OZ's? Or are you using those again this year?
  30. hovblackctr

    TDi North's 2011 Challenger

It was a 3 year deal Jase which ran out end of 2010. I think it was the rubbish supply of tyres that probably ended it, people were really struggling to get tyres off Toyo with their stupid decision to make people buy tyres directly off Toyo UK. Good to see it coming along Sean...

    Suits' JDM S2000

I thought it was the other way around, 13 air, 1 fuel. Could be wrong though! Basically if you are ramming through too much fuel there won't be enough air to burn it so it just goes straight out the exhaust causing high emmisions and a loss of power as the engine is being starved of air...

    Tow hook colour?

Yeah the J's rear one bolts onto the standard rear tow hook. The front one bolts onto the chasis in 3 places, if you could copy these you could make a killing and also make the internal hoop diameter 60mm instead of 45mm so its ready for race series.
  49. hovblackctr

    Tow hook colour?

Orange on red, if its just for show or bling just get cheapest as possible, if you want it for track get a proper branded one as the cheapo's will bend as soon as you put any pressure on them. Or just get a tow strap as they are cheap and do the same job.

    FD2 My mini review of the FD2 - update 10th June 2012

It's still the best handling car i've ever driven. As you say no understeer and you can just push on with little effort. The difference between ep3 & fd2 is night and day, the RE070 tyres work really well even in the wet you could get good heat in them.:)

    Anodising wheels. Rice or nice?

haha classic Japanese translation there Nick!:p Kimi's other half has those Gram Lights on his S15 i will see if i can find a pic of them but they looked really good in the flesh so to speak.
  74. hovblackctr

    Anodising wheels. Rice or nice?

The whole wheel done looks a bit OTT i agree. Rays offer the Gram Lights 57 with just the lip made to look Titanium finish and i think they look good, about the only 'Bling' wheel i would say looks good. On your black S2K they would look amazing i think!

Which Type R with the K20 engine is lightest?

It was at 1120kg mate back in Feb but with the ce28's fitted and a lighter battery i should be at 1100 or just under now i reckon with half a tank of fuel in it. I could hit 1050kg i reckon with carbon doors and lexan front windows but that won't be until next year i reckon now.

    Tie Rod Ends?

35mm is pretty low. I would say you are on the verge of needing them. TGM sell inverted tie rod ends, i think they make their own as the T1R tie rods are apparently not that good quality wise.
  84. hovblackctr

    FD2 Some good FD2 pics

It just lets a bit of air in, you get a plate that is supposed to channel the air into it. The scuttle panel fitment was shocking though on the fd2, it would put me off buying another. J's or M&M Honda would be my choice. [/IMG]
