Sorry to bring up an old thread, but i might be getting a dc sports exhaust and was wandering how effective the bung actually is?? the only thing i am concerned at is motorway driving, so does it cure drone?? anybody able to make a comparison video, would be much appreciated :D

Cheers for the advice, this was quite a while ago and the car has been fixed for some time now :P It turned out to be the chain rattling against the guides or a faulty tensioner, either way its all fixed now :D

mines off at the moment as i had my mot last week, when i put it back on, i think i will cake some paste on it as well, not sure if its designed to have that sound or not :S

Lol the indicator plugs were a massive ballache, i only found 1 in the rear passenger side of a 97 corsa, then found the other in another corsa, good luck

you will also need the indicator plugs, i cant remember about the hid kit, as i added mine after regular hb3 bulbs, but that should do you :D

personally, i wouldn't have thought there would be much difference in sound, but they might weigh different. Just make sure you find the right diameter as theres a lot of 2" and 2.25" b-pipes out there, especially scorpion and supersprint or unbranded :)

i'm not sure if were allowed to post ebay links, but if you type in "civic type r tube" there are a few there, ones currently 20 pounds for a 2.5" sportex b-pipe :) also search "civic type r b-pipe" and theres one there as well :) they will keep popping up on ebay just got to have an eye out ;)

both parts of the video are the same setup, oem manifold - oem cat - un-silenced bpipe - oem backbox, the raspyness from it when you belt it is really addictive :) and i dont know if i mentioned it, but its made by r8byb off here :)

I would listen to these guys ^^^^ a decat will benefit mostly after a map, until then there will be next to no gains and surely can't be good for the engine ;) im sure i have read that you can use a spacer for the sensor or an o2 simulator but there a little bit more expensive...

haha! what are you running?? see what i mean, half of the people are saying a 4-2-1 will change a car from silent-ish to ridiculously unbearable and some are saying it barely makes a difference :S

yea thats what i thought, but i've also been told that the manifold, cat, b-pipe and backbox are the most restrictive parts to a CTR so wasn't sure if swapping unsilenced for a silenced would alter anything and require a new map :S to be honest, my last car a peugeot 206 had a massive backbox...

I would personally play the dumb card, saying you bought it like it and were none the wiser that it was an after-market exhaust (if you can't swap it in the mean time), have you got protected no claims?? going to a 50/50 will loose your excess and no claims :( happened to me 2 years ago :'(

also, when using comparison websites, never go through the compare website because they chuck a premium on top so they get some money out of it, if you first go through the compare website, find the cheapest, and then go to their website using the exact same info, it will be even cheaper :)

yea really cheap :) considering it was 1800 before i added my mum and dad :P of course location, job and where it's kept is important but using them as named drivers gave me a wopping discount, and so have friends/family that have done the same :)

You've got it all wrong mate, you dont make your parent a main driver and you a named, that would be void, and also you wouldn't build up any no claims. You need to make a policy in your own name, and put your parents as named drivers. Insurance companies then see this as you are not driving it...

well honda advise you to replace it each time, but its normally ok to re-use it once, plus honda replaced my chain and tensioner not so long ago, so it should still be fresh. Mine was sealed and glued to the cover, so i just left it on there :) have checked it yesterday and today and no oil...

i only had mine done at 105k miles because my tensioner had gone giving it one hell of a rattle :D

dunno if it helps, but check my profile, i've got a video of my rattle which turned out to be my chain tensioner. For me, although it seemed the rattle quietened after 2k revs, it was actually still there just the engine noise drowned it out more. But have a listen to my video, might help you...

i would try 'honda original parts', just type in your reg and should have some engine diagrams. Im not a mechanic so can't help your problem but does your sump look normal?? not dented or split??

im not sure if it's any better, just its away from engine heat, the flaw with mine is that my feed doesn't quite reach into the hole, but stops just before, im trying to find better ways to get a better feed with this kit and that is where this kit is not necessarily the best in my opinion...

i have changed my chain about 3 months ago, i only changed it because my chain tensioner was faulty and made a loud rattle. The only time you will ever need to change it is if you have a problem like the tensioner or a slipping chain. As long as you keep the oil level right and change it often...

i know this is quite a late post, but theres a chart off of the eurospec website where they compared a stock ep3 and stock ep3 with k100: as everyones said, midrange difference is massive and well worth it

well it worked a treat for me, before the blanket i found that it would rattle after vtec'in, motorway driving, rain or if i've been driving for over 30 mins. With the fire blanket, the only time i ever hear it is when im doing over 80 mph which makes the cabin feel a bit loud but no rattle :D

May i suggest fire blankets :D same job but 15 pounds cheaper :)

Well my plan was to get the tdi manifold, remap and inlet manifold altogether as running a decat without a remap is bad for the engine, and 199hp with my mods may not be the same for someone else, my cars an 02 plate with close to 95k miles so shes still holding up well. I could get the remap...

Not sure if this is useful to anyone, but i bought a fire blanket and wrapped the b-pipe on the part that had no clearance and it has completely removed all rattling and knocking. gear changes, motorway driving, gunning it, all is completely smooth and noise free :D

i've only recently gone for an unsilenced b-pipe, and although it feels a tad more responsive, i pulled 199 on a rolling road yesterday, so without a remap there will be next to no gains :/ the sound however is another story, perfect rasp :D

well said, also if your going for these mods it would be wise to set the car up a little better, possibly energy inserts, strut brace, lowering and fast road settups are things to consider :D there really is loads you can do so maybe have a little read up on what other people have done :cool:

well the general route people normally take is: - intake - exhaust (backbox, b-pipe) - sports header with decat/sports cat - then k100 or kpro (remap ecu) to be honest prices vary on each, but the kpro and header will probably cost the most then you can go a little further at a cost, like...

fair enough, well i fitted my inserts, it wasn't that hard although a lot more involving than the etd, i've also had both and with my car it seemed the other way round :( etd rattled a lot especially with low revs and my inserts (i have both on) really aren't as rattly as what everyone makes out...

Yea mine was a few weeks ago, passed but they just needed aligning :D i was a bit worried to but they told me theyre fine as long as the positioning is correct

Also forgot to mention, i didn't buy sidelight holders, i bodged it :D basically if yours are the same as mine, i have a black holder which has a small donut rubber ring around it. I found that if i got a flat blade screwdriver and pushed the o-ring inside the headlight it made it a nice snug fit :D

hmm i wouldn't know about the self adjusting, have you used the right fuse and wiring as mine?? if i remember rightly, the adjusters were exact same looms and plugs so it was just simply unplug old and plug into the new, maybe check they are plugged in right? HID's will take around 10 seconds to...
