    My Golf V6 4motion Build

Not bloody far off! I am stuck at the moment, my head says stick with the 325d for 12 months until the move to canada. The heart says... 4.3 Vantage thats in the local aston dealer, 19k miles in black with red leather... should be hearing about a contract on thursday, so this weekend might...

    My Golf V6 4motion Build

SOLD! In the end I have take a loss of about £500 on it but I just wanted rid, loved the car, hated the nasty fairy that lived in the engine bay.

    My Golf V6 4motion Build

    My Golf V6 4motion Build

Dont remind me! Apart from the exhaust manifold and the main engine block + radiators the engine bay is new! I have decided not to bother with the bodywork, just leave it bog standard (cant justify throwing another £2k at it!) So next up is fitting the race haldex controller a re-map plus if i...

    My Golf V6 4motion Build

A call from the garage has confirmed what i already knew... Its not a split hose, its a fooked intake manifold :-( The real pain in the ass is i think i might have caused it when i swapped the cooling fans over :-( 6hr Labour so far... This will be a big bill!
  6. S

    My Golf V6 4motion Build

Just a quick update... After fiddling with the fans it seems i have upset something :-( the idle was bouncing between the usual 800rpm and 1200rpm, the consensus is that i have split a vacuum pipe somewhere and so air is leaking in (again!) so i decided rather than fanny around looking for the...
  7. S

    My Golf V6 4motion Build

It is a resistor problem, but the resistor is in the fan motor housing itself, so for a 5p resistor failing you have to replace the fan... God bless the Germans! Cant recommend the EBC pads enough, squealed like a bugger for 150 miles and now have bedded in well and can take a real hammering :-)
  8. S

    My Golf V6 4motion Build

2 things, 1, the tyres i got from quick fit, so your local one should do the same deal. and 2, dont use VW fans, they fail over and over again, euro car parts pattern ones are cheaper £170 a pair and have so far lasted well on R32s ;-)
  9. S

    My Golf V6 4motion Build

Im going to keep the seats, im not looking for a R32 replica, just some bits on the R32 are much more to my taste. resonated milltek, i still want to be able to blast around in comfort! The goodyears are great, did a deal £406 for all 4 fitted ballanced and the tracking sorted. Onto...

    Limited Miles Accident

Just had a call from him, they were playing silly buggers saying he had to pay for the repairs... Clio 197 12,000 Mile Report

Just booked the Albi Blue beast in for its 12k service so i thought i would pass on my thoughts so far! First off i must try to persuade some people that French cars are not all bad! When RJ56 PWL arrived on the transporter outside my house i must admit i had a huge grin, the blue looks so...

Ever over-revved your engine and tried to claim warranty?

Just been reading this and unless we have totally re-engineered ECUs to the rest of the world, removing the ecu fuse of disconecting the battery will reset the ecu as there is no functionality for it to hard code to itself. EP3 was a softer type R than those before and sold a heck of a lot more than those before. So if you were Honda what would you do? jumping out of gear

It's the torque moving the engine on the mounts, the engine is attached to the gearbox, thus the linkage is moved causing it to jump out of gear. Just as a side note, driveshafts, clutch and any number of other components won't last long if you dump the clutch at 4k rpm ;)
  55. S

    FN2 19" rage alloys

Yeah, don't worry mate, i suspect the only "real" difference you will notice will be how they look ;) As long as they are on lower profile tyres and retain the same outside diameter then at worst it will be ride quality that is lessened.
  56. S

FN2 The New Type R vs The Stig

  59. S

FN2 The New Type R vs The Stig

About 1.5 seconds slower than the 182 Cup around Bedford I hear ;) The F1 Clio and then the Cup 197 should close the gap but the extra weight counts against it, The 197 makes ALL its time up on the brakes and speed to the apex, the 4 pot brembos are exactly the same as on the race car, so it's...

    FN2 AutoCar's verdict

Will sell, not as well as EP3 i predict as there are more competetors out there now. Quite frankly imo it appears to be a compromised hot hatch, will have to wait to get one on track before i stick the final nail in the mental coffin.

Cleaning blood stains off the roof

Basically the bugger is Ammonia is the best stuff to clean up dry blood, but you reeeeeeeallly dont want an ammonia solution on your paintwork, might i suggest an off the wall approach and say try paper towel with a 10parts ater 1 part bleach solution followed by a good rinse and wax.
